I am sure you could use the bluetooth strap with any fitness app you like? Strava, Endomondo etc. Certainly with a Polar

Correct.. that is what I intend to do.. But (s)he mentioned (s)he will carry on using the current app.. which is wahoo

How would you get your HR into vitality? Wahoo Fitness does not seem to be a sync partner. And it doesn't look like you can do Wahoo->Mapmyfitness->Vitality
Actually you can do exactly that.
With wahoo, once you done your workout, it can connect to any of your favourite Discovery Vitality sync partners. I have it set to use any of the following:
- Garmin Connect
- MapMyFitness
- Runkeeper
- Strava

^ Cool, lets see who posts a review first :)
I will do a mini review.

I bought 2x Muvit HRMs (or igotU whatever).
The box is tiny, and doesn't contain much.
- belt
- transmitter that clips on to belt
- small paper with basic instructions on how to wear it, and tell you not to wash it in a washing machine. belt can be handwashed with water below 30 degree celcius

muvit-igotu-hrm.jpg

I used this belt with Wahoo fitness, it synced 1st time without an issue at all. The instruction manual says it is also compatible with runkeeper, strava, endomondo ect, but I haven't tested those.

I prefer wahoo because:
- it can sync with multiple providers for Discovery, as per the top of this post.
- no ads
- no fuss, just straight to what I want
- display while you exercising is slightly customizable, and you can swipe between multiple dashboards

Only issue:
- if you pause at the end of a workout, also stop it immediately, otherwise the clocks keep on ticking, and your average run rate, pace, heart rate ect drops, and can go below the level you want to qualify for certain points at Discovery.

I tested it this morning at the Gym. I only needed 100 points, so while I could have scored 300 points at 20 minutes, I kept on exercising at a much lighter pace the last 15 minutes to get my average heart rate to drop below 70%.

Wahoo fitness also automatically calculate your heart rate zones based your age ect. Zone 2 is above 60% and Zone 3 is above 70%, so it is super easy to see if your average is good enough for the intended level of points you want from Discovery.

As for the Muvit Heart rate monitor, it works exactly as expected, better than a chinese watch version I have. The Chinese watch cant sync with discovery, and it also never got a great reading when doing strength exercises in the gym, so I was very disappointed with it, however I am very happy with the Muvit HRM.

Price: 5/5
Easy of use: 5/5
Will I recommend others to use it, if they dont want to pay the price tag of Polar ect? Hell yes.

The muvit is cheaper, even without ebucks discount or 25% discovery discount, its still cheaper and works great.

Forgot to mention, my gym workout was a medium-to-light workout.

2x warmup squat sets of 12 reps (super light)
5x sets of 5 reps at 60KG squats (medium for my current fitness)
5x sets of 5 reps standing barbell overhead press at 30KG (easy for current fitness)
1x set of 5 reps 60KG deadlift (very light)

Shotto.. thanks for that.. You beat me to it :)

I picked mine up now and just put it on sitting at my desk. Paired with my LG G4 and mapmyfitness app no problems.
Choose indoor activity and started tracking.

Seems to be geared for running but will see how it handles gymming.

I think it's a keeper. Only drawback MIGHT be the strap. I'm not a big guy and put the strap at max to slide it over my head/shoulders and did not re-adjust after putting it on my chest. As I'm sitting here typing it's still on and quite snug... so depending on your physique it might be a bit too tight.

Will try out the wahoo app too... those screens look lekker.

Thanks!

you dont have to put it on over your head. On the 1 side where you adjust the size, it can clip off. Much easier to put on that way vs putting it on over your head!

Interesting... (although it's from 2014 so might be outdated) http://geardiary.com/2014/01/29/wahoo-fitness/

Now this is totally unrelated to Wahoo, but I quickly discovered that I liked some sites more than others. For example, I had been using the Magellan Echo with MapMyRun on the iPhone before Wahoo, so I figured I would just keep exporting my data there. But what I discovered was that MapMyFitness doesn’t show heartrate data unless you are a paying member. Oh well, Garmin Connect shows me everything regardless! So I stuck with Garmin … and deleted MayMyRun from my phone!

And quite an extensive list of partners:
Here are some of the sites Wahoo can upload workouts to:
– MapMyFitness.com
– Runkeeper.com
– Nike+.com
– TrainingPeaks.com
– GarminConnect.com
– MapMyTracks.com
– 2Peak.com
– RideWithGPS.com
– dailymile.com
– Strava.com
– Dropbox.com
– MyFitnessPal
– Email/dropbox data in a variety of formats

Correct, Wahoo can upload to a bunch of providers, I only listed the ones I believe is relevant to sync with Vitality. I am not sure if any of the others would work or not.

Must say, I am mostly very impressed with the Wahoo Fitness app on Android at least.

Sadly, MapMyFitness is useless, you can't see anything about heart rate data on it.
Runkeep show basic values, so does Garmin Connect.
Strava at least shows the basic heart rate graph.

Garmin is my favourite, it syncs that fastest with Vitality. I had my 100 points for this morning's exercise 15minutes later, after I uploaded my workout. Gym will only be the next day, ect.

Active Rewards Friend

I have one more space in my team to maximise my weekly smoothie count. For this week I'm just short of 50 more points with my step count currently sitting at 2,500 - so it's a guaranteed smoothie there. Please PM me. Thanks

I think you only benefit from the team mates if they have been in the team for a full week cycle.

Hi guys

On my iphone the discovery app and health app is linked. But i do not see any activity in discovery e.g my steps data.

How do i add my steps data from the health app to sync with discovery so that it can be used towards my rewards points specifically? Currently only gym points are reflecting.

The app does show that i am synced.

Thanks

Hi Guys.

I see the tomtom spark has launched. I would like to know if it's possible to send hrm data to vitality from a tomtom device like you do with garmin's vivosmart hr?

Anyone know offhand the difference between the 1 and 2 vivofits?

The advantages the 2 has over the 1 are:
audible move alarm,
bluetooth phone synchronisation,
workout recording without heart rate monitor.

The Vivofit 3 has been announced and it is priced cheaper than the 2 in the US
