I bought mine because you recommended it. I just think they have problems with MMF and they don't want to resolve those problems.

:whistling:

Get the Polar beat app, link the monitor to that, then straight to discovery
Get the Wahoo app, link to monitor (wahoo doesn't link to discovery)
Link wahoo to the following apps (which do link to discovery):
Mapmyfitness
Garmin
Strava

Going forward, I think they'll only support the Polar app in our instance. So hoping that syncs well and all that jazz

Didn't Mapmyfitness and Strava just get removed from the Discovery compatible apps?

EDIT: from Discovery website:
The fitness devices and apps adidas miCoach, Moves, RunKeeper, Strava and MapMyFitness and Timex either do not distinguish between third party data or self-reported data, or utilise an unreliable integration. These apps compromise the accuracy and verifiability of the fitness data we receive, so we will no longer allocate Vitality fitness points for using these apps from 2 April 2016.

sigh..what is the cheapest official Discovery way of earning points for heart rates if you do crossfit type of exercise?
Browsing through Sportsmans website it seems the easiest way is the Polar H7 bluetooth strap that syncs to your phone and the Polar app? The Muvit is tempting but seeing as I'm on my third fitness device I want to get the true blue fully endorsed official 100% Discovery device

Maybe something like a Vivofit bundle for around R2000 which does not require you to carry your phone to capture workouts.

Jacob Zuma did a 180 after 4 days (after 9/12), wonder if JZ would prove to be smarter than Discovery?

Just received this e-mail from Discovery...

Vitality Active Rewards has been Vitality's most successful benefit to date. And while early data shows an average increase in physical activity of 21% among members, the support of a broad range of devices has also highlighted certain issues regarding data reliability. We are therefore refining how you can earn Vitality points using your TomTom.

Your TomTom data is currently sent to Vitality through MapMyfitness – this has data integration and reliability issues which many of our members have raised. We are therefore in the process of discontinuing this method of integration from the Vitality programme.

Together with TomTom, we are working on a new, better-quality integration and we hope to have this in place in the coming months. In the interim, while no new TomTom device linking through MapMyFitness will be possible from 18 March 2016, we have recognised you as an early adopter. We’ll continue to award you Vitality points for your TomTom activity (via MapMyFitness) until the end of June 2016. Given the intricacies of this system integration, we cannot commit to timelines but will keep you informed closer to the time.

For any queries related to fitness devices and apps and achieving Vitality fitness points, you can visit our Vitality Support page. You can also view your own personalised Vitality Dashboard and get a snapshot of your current Vitality Status, Points and Benefits.

Get active. Get rewarded.

Regards

Discovery Vitality

Anyone using Polar Beat, who also bought the "Benefit Target" in-app purchase, that can tell me how it works? Would that make it possible to let the app tell you when you go out of your target zone?

Discovery are saying they are too lazy to do their own algorithms to catch the cheaters.... Easier just to get rid of multiple sources.

Won't the "Energy Pointer" be more fitting to this purpose?

The one screenshot I saw for that was kinda meh. You either in burning fat, or something else. Too basic.
The screenshot for the target benefit seemed better, and it speaks to you, if you go outside of your target, which is really cool, you dont even have to look at the screen, just listen. Only problem is, I cant find a screenshot showing what you can set as your target in this benefit.

Yeah just saw that. Also found this:

Energy Pointer: Shows you the main effect of your workout in real-time – whether you’re burning fat or improving fitness

Training Benefit: Allows you to set specific training targets – like boosting recovery or improving endurance – and get guidance to achieve it
