Disney+ early hands-on test before South African launch

I wonder if the Auto is 2160p and the quality selector is only to force lower qualities.
Might be possible that they're still in the process of uploading to the CDNs and the 4k / HDR content is the last to be uploaded
possibly, i set quality to data saver in the browser and I cant tell the difference between that and full hd;

but 'official' launch is in a few hours, shouldn't they be done with uploading the stuff already?

Who knows, only fair assumption to make however.

OK so some MAJOR account issues. I'm apparently Phillip now. This thing legit put me into someone else's account......

Downloaded app on my Samsung TV, can log in and watch, no problem., Tried one movie and it seem to skip a bit. Will check later again.

Works fine on my side.

Only big complaint on my side is the search function is crap, on both anvdroid and Apple apps.

Definitely, not even the thumbnails are loading correctly on the Android TV app for me yet.

Too lazy to check the Samsung app. Will wait for tomorrow.

Ok app is up on the Android TV play store. Still no activation email for the special...

When I try to play Futurama I get Dark Wing Duck instead
That generally baffles me... Surely they have this multi country thing waxed by now and it should just be a flag to enable a new country and the content for this country..

Does seem like we're getting a whole new system though which is weird.

Maybe let us wait until after they have officially launched before roasting them?

Nice!

This morning when I checked, wasn't on Samsung TV - but I checked again and automatically was available.

Even Disney+ official said June for the Samsung (which I couldn't understand)

Just subscribed. Not too pleased. Only first ever 2 seasons of Simpsons is watchable, rest listed but not selectable.
Noticed other bugs as well. Season 2 of Simpsons has 23 episodes, scrolling past episode 20 takes you back to episode 11....annoying

Mine seems to be updating or something , I see it lists 33 seasons, but on season 33 selected , it’s showing season 7

Watched a Pixar movie with the kids - It came through at 4K HDR with Dolby Digital plus. Everything went smooth. But then I tried Darkwing Duck, and it's displayed in 16:9 (it's 4:3 originally) :cautious:
There doesn't seem to be a way to get it back to 4:3

It seems that disney+ pulled the wool over our eyes. If you use the vpn on the US on the app store, the disney app is US come up and the one we have is the Disney Hotstar one for which is not the same and hence cannot stream in 4k. The Disney Hostar app works the same as for India where the authentication uses cell numbers whereas the US version uses email authentication. It seems like we getting getting a watered down version of Disney Hostar as it streams only in HD just like in India. The bad news is that we paying the same US pricing and not the R300 per year which India pays I.e 1500 rupees. Not impressed. Have to wait amd see if 4k steaming will come to us but won't be surprised if it doesn't due to the disney hotstar app we have for SA. My view is rather stick with Disney US app version to stream 4k and a better library.
