Disney+ plagued with technical glitches on South African launch day

Phonenumber is a weird argument. We discussed it quite extensively with a recent application that utilizes phone as the user but that's because it is a pure mobile item. We added email as optional years ago and with a recent subscription and privacy concerns, enforcing a secondary fall back to email as a form of confirmation on device changes because of things like sim swops and fraud. One of the arguments is that EVERYONE has a email account who owns a smart phone as you need one to actually use the phone properly, the software doesn't run on feature phones.

Not the same as this case but yeah, bit of trivia and probably where the mentality comes in that it was developed in a mobile first location and hence cell number as main user "descriptor".

Oh no question that it came from a world of Mobile First, aka India... just find it strange that we're pushed into that system and model when everything else in this country is email address focused. Its almost as if Disney didn't actually look at the market from that point of view (or had some other business reason to shoehorn us into the Hotstar platform). We are way more Western in our approach to those things than we are Indian/Asian.

I do have to wonder if Disney have a merge/migration plan to get all their streaming into a single platform though, it would be interesting to find out.

Haven't actually streamed extensively yet besides a couple second test. But so far everything has been very smooth for me

I can't find the Disney+ iOS app in the South African apple App Store. What should I be searching for?

How do you actually open a chat window for support? Only thing I can find is a window asking me to sign in to use chat even though I am signed and can't click on anything in that window.

For me it was sms, no email.
I lie, just got the sms about 30mins ago, been too busy to check phone but its nearly 12 hours after the email.... and I subscribed already. Probably clickatell or twillio lag or just bad notification function/coding without sufficient resource drivers.

I wonder if it rolled out smoothly in other countries? The original US launch was plagued by numerous problems. There were also complaints of accounts getting hijacked.
