Indeed, we've been battling with the DNS servers at SAIX for a few days. I think they're cutting over to our own DNS servers tonight or tomorrow night.

As posted in another thread, there's been a DNS issue at SAIX where our DNS servers live. We are now moving to our own servers. I think it might even be tonight but need to confirm.

Just to clarify, if the DNS servers (at SAIX or Vodacom) go down, I am pretty sure the entire Vodacom network will experience DNS lookup errors, will they not? Remember, the common denominator between customers and Vodacom are the DNS servers, if they go down, every customer experiences problems.

I must say I am suprised that Vodacom is / was using 'third party' DNS servers anyway...
seeing they network providers and all...

I'm still getting DNS errors. Called 155 and they gave me alternate ones.
The person on the desk refused to log that the auto assigned DNS servers were giving errors as I was the only one complaining. All the ppl I know on 3G around here had the same error on and off.

@ V3g maybe get the guys on helpdesk to take calls more seriously I told him its happening to me the g/f and a friend of mine since thursday and he wanted me to delete my profiles and recreate when it clearly wasnt a connection prob but DNS servers not resolving an IP.

Please p.m. the time of your call and the number that you called from to v3g - so that v3g can track down & listen to the recording & take the necessary action...

I'm getting the new DNS servers on the internet APN.

Will check if they're different on the other APN's. Does not make sense for them to be, maybe they're not cut over yet.

There are the ones I'm now getting:

196.207.32.69
196.43.45.190

Those are what I get on internetVPN
the alternates I was given were 168. ..... cant rememder the rest but started with that those bombed too.

/edit on internet APN I get the same primary but different alternate 196.43.1.11

As soon as I switched to Internet from InternetVPN I started getting DNS errors that should point you in the right direction yes ?

I'm also a bit lost, not sure what step by step you require?

This thread is about the recent DNS problems seen and Vodacom's resolution in moving to different DNS servers.

You should not need to do anything, the settings will automatically be pushed down to your PC.

If you're referring to:
Request Time-out
I'm tired of waiting for your request.

Apache/1.3.12 Server at magb-fe03c1 Port 80
I've got no idea, this seems to be an Apache error.
