I'm having DNS issues. My assigned DNS servers are:

196.43.46.190
196.43.38.190

They stop resolving certain DNS addresses for some reason, and then they start working, and then they stop, etc.

Anyone else having this issue?

I'm not looking for a dns provider - i'm referring to the dns servers assigned automatically when you connect to adsl.

This is specifically through web africa.

And now it's working again.

I've been having funnies with gateway timeouts on a few sites with subdomains - seems very erratic.

Pls note that if you NEED (Preferably leave on dynamic) to assighn DNS servers for Dial-up

and ADSL clients then you should ONLY use the following.

When assighning these DNS`s always use the ones closest to the client.

196.43.34.190 Cape Town
196.43.38.190 Rosebank
196.43.42.190 Johannesburg
196.43.45.190 Pretoria
196.43.46.190 Cape Town
196.43.50.190 Pretoria
196.43.53.190 Durban
196.43.54.190 Durban

This info can be aquired on - http://www.saix.net/cgi-bin/saix_dns.pl

I've switched to the OpenDNS servers - much better. Haven't had any hassles since.

Bugger, I can't use OpenDNS. My DLink DI-724 won't let me set static DNS entries along with Dynamic PPPoE. Grrr.

Bollocks. Umm... why not try run some local dns server software of some sort, and use a forwarder to opendns? That should be a decent work around.
