Yeah, yeah - I know they've been having problems yesterday and today with international links, however I can't even get to some local sites while some international ones work just fine!

Try getting to www.google.com [:(] I can't LIVE without my bloody Google! [xx(]

Initial investigation points to DNS issues... anyone else having problems?

Basically, .co.za doesnt mean hosted locally. the myadsl forum is hosted overseas. as is supersport.co.za which I was trying to get to. Pure local sites did work during the outage.

it does not matter where the site is if the DNS record expires [even if it is reachable] you will not reach it ... there are 13 root dns servers in the world all outside south africa that is why a ISP must ensure DNS redundancy at all times ... ive even used a isdn dialup to MWEB to keep the DNS running when we had a major out
