Do you (actively) use the iOS 9 Multitasking features on your iPads?

So as the heading states do you guys actively use the Multitasking features on your iPads that iOS 9 offers?

Do you find it handy or is it a niche feature?

I recently got my Mini 2 so I have access to Picture in Picture & Slide Over but not Split Screen

Here is a working example of how I use the iOS 9 Multitasking features:

Reading up on MyBB article about the comparison of all the VOD services in SA. There is mention of Master of None on Netflix which I'm not too familiar about. So I bring up Slide Over & open Wikipanion...

Yes but not as much as I'd like to due to single active windows in Air as shown by you.. also the stuff I use iPad for is single pane consumption however I do use 1Password a lot like this.

I've requested a long time ago for the mybb app to be compatible with it.

+10. That would be rather handy!

What's actually shocking is how sloppy Google are at updating their YouTube App to support PiP. One has to use a 3rd party App to view your YouTubes PiP

I haven't tried YouTube. Which app is that? I haven't really used any fully split screen apps, mostly just safari on split view. I.e secondary app on third of the screen not half.

Played around with Sidefari a bit, which is useful.

One thing that still needs to be fixed, is the random way that the apps are seeming sorted in the slideover view. I initially thought it was alphabetical, but then it doesn't always follow that order.

They should allow us to specify which apps we want to allow accessible in the slideover (having all of them there by default is rather pointless) – and should preferably allow for a search bar, to quickly locate the app you want to use. That all being said – it's a useful feature – must really come into its own on the iPad Pro!

Wish my iPad 2 supported it, then I would certainly use it.

FiestaST how does slide over and split screen differ? Your screenshot illustrates what I assumed to be split screen and one and the same thing?

Agree fully. That is a simple yet handy idea to clear up all the clutter & exclude eg. stock Apps you wont need to Multitask with.

Split view is the big daddy - any only runs on the latest. Allows complete control over both windows at the same time (i.e. Doesn't make the one inactive, whilst working on the other).

Slideover is really intended for the quick-peeks into whatever is going on in the 'new' window - you can scroll a bit, and do what you need to, but it must be closed again to continue with the app that you started in. As a result, it uses less resources, and so works on all the iOS9 devices (AFAIK).

iPad 2 hardware is too old unfortunately.

The main diff is that Slide Over brings a 70/30 split. You can work with the new App but cannot use the prior App. You cannot use the both Apps simultaneously.

For Split View you have a 50/50 split & both Apps can be use simultaneously.

You activate Split View in the same way as Slide Over but jut drag out the bar further. Pop into an iStore & you can see it in action. Its really cool on the huge iPad Pro:

I would have love to have gotten a iPad Air 2 but the price premium is still very high

For now I'm more than happy with the Mini 2, really enjoying the smaller size & so far zero slowdown.

I try not to go to the Apple Store any more...it just makes me sad these days.

iPad 2 is hardly capable of running Safari these days.

^ I find it rather handy. Some Apps are useful in SlideOver & some (most crappy stock ones eg. Tips; Reminder; Find Friends) are not useful at all.

Here are all the Apps on my Mini 2 that support SlideOver & consequently Split Screen:

Ito Apps I actually use in SlideOver it would be: Wikipanion; Twitter; PDF Expert; Mail; Notes; Inkboard; GoodReader; 1Password; Safari; that Converter App; Photos.

For YouPlayer I use PiP as the stock YouTube App does still *not* support iOS 9 multitasking features.

Shoutout to ShowMax for having SlideOver & SplitView support; Netflix App has nothing. On the Mini 2 & 3 & Air 1 SlideOver is fairly pointless as you can't use both Apps at the same time. On the Air 2; Mini 4 & iPad Pro with SplitScreen I'm guessing it will make much more sense.

Happy about GoodReader finally being updated >> and it said a biggie is on its way, going to be interested to see what they come up with. It's my go-to app for PDF annotation, being one of the few that allows custom-selection of highlighting colours, so hope they don't change too much! Going to be using this plenty...

On a side note - going to see what March potentially delivers in the iPad A3 - and based on that, make a call on the iPad Pro... The latter with GoodReader/Bookends/Safari/Sidefari/DTTG2 is going to be a serious PDF annotation tool, in conjunction with the Apple Pencil...

Tested out the Free version & worked fairly good. Forked out the $2.99 for the full App with zero Ads.

Official YouTube App finally gets SlideOver & SplitScreen but no Picture in Picture yet. The one feature where it really makes sense
