We are far more advanced then the people living in the Amazon rain forest so I am sure there must be a planet out there that is either far behind us on the evolutionary scale or one that has been destroyed by technology and has to start again from scratch.

In the time scale of life or human life we are nothing but a blip in the universe line of things. There might very well be an alien life form that is in the ape or early human stage, but the chance of finding them is less than never.

Do you have any idea how little 100 000 years are when you talking about billions?

This is why we look for the other end of the spectrum cause they are kind of easier to find. (Just ever so slightly over never)

Edit: Oh and I am with old wheelchair man on this one, till we find a proper way to defend ourselves we should hide the f away. If they are just a billion years ahead of us it would be like a human finding an anthill, they can do anything they want and we have no chance in hell to defend ourselves or our "anthill"

I think that if there is ET out there and they knew about us, then they would probably find us fascinating. I don't think they would want to doom us into extinction.

Look at the diversity of life on Earth. Why would anyET want to destroy it?

Well not directly, like go out of there way to do it, more like make space for a highway or come get some food :D

I don't think they will strip-mine earth for resources like gold or water, everything here can be found on other planets and in larger quantities... well all but life so we might become food? You know like how we see cows or other animals on this planet....

Do I believe that there may be a planet in a galaxy far, far away that has life? Yes. As to how advanced said life may be, I am unsure, but I do leave the door open to the possibility of advanced lifeforms on other planets. Hopefully they look like this;

:erm:

tinfoil hats engage!

How is speaking about the possibility of life on another planet tin foil hat worthy? Nobody here is saying that they have been butt probed by aliens, so im not quite sure what you are going on about.

Since the meteorite discovery by the NASA scientist there have been some new developments regarding the evidence of life from Mars.

In 1996, a research group led by Dave McKay of NASA’s Johnson Space Center claimed to have found evidence of fossilized life in a Mars meteorite. Not only did the shapes look like bacteria, but a form of magnetite (iron oxide) was found in the meteorite that, on Earth, is produced within the bodies of certain bacteria. The study also found tiny carbonate globules in the meteorite, which the scientists said likely formed by living organisms in the presence of liquid water.

Since their surprising announcement, other scientists have closely examined the Mars rock and concluded the microscopic shapes weren’t necessarily associated with life, and the different features in the meteorite all could have formed by non-biological processes.

We (life) travelled on space rocks? :wtf:

Possibly its not a given.

Some bacteria can survive in space - fact
Rocks can reach escape velocity(volcano or meteor impact) - fact

Bacteria can be on said rocks, so its not as far fetched as it sounds at 1st.

Ok so it's a fact that bacteria survives in space, and how we know is through experimentation (GIMF). Technically that would mean there is already extraterrestrial life out there since those bacteria are no longer living and reproducing on earth.

Point taken.

With regards to aliens being able to travel the cosmos like its nothing is not an easy task to fathom if you take it seriously. Speed changes a lot of thing so assuming they can go super fast like 100 times the speed of light the damage to the body might not allow a fragile organic creature to travel at that speeds. Anyways assuming that they can do that, the sheer distance between galaxies is too big. Even within our own galaxy the distances are enormous. No thing is going to fly 100 years by itself to look at us. If they existed and knew of us then most likely probes wouldve been sent to look at earth. Like how we sent the rovers voyager ect

Also why does ET life have to be more advanced than us? Why do we think so little of our own achievements? We could be the most advanced creatures in the milkyway.

With regards to the theory of warp drive, that is all fine but you require an enormous amount of energy to do something like that. Assuming that superiror ETs could do it, it would be hard to hide that energy burst from us, even though we track a very small percentage of the night sky I don't think a release of energy and warping of space time would go unnoticed.

The further you jump in theory the more energy you would require.

No evidence for the existence of ETL. There may be, it would be great. However, based on the evidence I see no need to believe or think ETL exist or do not exist.

Maybe ET does not have to travel vast distances and is here on our earth already.
