It may well be that their 'energy' only takes concrete form in 3 different dimensions to ours - and are otherwise considered out of phase/ out of mind.

For all we know life elsewhere may exist in energy form.

Well sure, matter = energy.

Maybe they can even jump time. Because time, matter, energy are the three contituents of the universe.

Thought i smelled trekkies in here :p

The poll needs better options. One can believe in life existing outside of earth while denying that they have visited earth.

Has nothing to do with visiting Earth. The question is simple - do you believe in the existence of extra-terrestrials or not?

As stated. There are at least 100 billion stars in each galaxy and so far 125 billion galaxies have been detected. This means millions if not billions of planets. It would be rather naive and arrogant to think that we are the only intelligent beings in the universe. What do you think?

When I go out and survey the vast majority of humanity, I find this bit highly debatable. :)

Sure I believe extra-terrestrials exist but I doubt that the little naked lizard people are really ETs.

The 2 are mutually exclusive.
You'll fare better with arguments and debates if you read. ;)

But for the sake of clarity - this can also refer to non-sentient ETs?
I like my idea of worlds filled with single-cell organisms. Makes them less threatening! :p

Ok then, are we talking intelligent life and if so what level?

Intelligent life, yes. How would you define levels? I think if they're as smart or smarter than us, then that's what I'm referring to.

Until they come to see us from their planet, I wait patiently. I hear them saying: Don't call us, we'll call you.

Well look at the diverse levels of intelligence we have on earth. But I guess you were thinking civilization building and upwards.

Very good question. I think its arrogant for humans to believe we qualify as intelligent life; yes we are self-conscious/aware (and so are dolphins) but probably not clever at all...considering...:

Man took what 4 mil years to evolve into modern ("intelligent") man, modern man has been around for a 100k years, compared to the universe that is a few billion years old.

So if modern man took 100k years to become as clever as we are today, imagine an alien race that had a couple million years or even a billion years  head start on us. They might regard us as we would regard bacterial life forms if we discover such life forms on other planets. I shiver when I think what we would do to such life forms and therefore what these "real" intelligent aliens will do to us.

So, yes I do believe in aliens, but am not thrilled with the prospect of meeting ET.
