Do you guys still think that the Sinotech 42" LCD gives good bang for your buck?

I recently bought the 32 Sinotech lcd for R 3999 - have not had any problems with it, don't have dstv, just normal m net and it looks great.
SABC 3 for some reason is the only one that looks ***, but think its my aerial - the rest look fine.
DVD's and Xbox are awsome, I have compared side by side with an lg and the sinotec is much better in my opinion and my friends even if he will not admit it, he paid R 6000.
Can't beat 5 year warranty either and their support in Jo'burg is great - guys are on the ball with customer service unlike samsung and lg. :( had trouble with their products in the past.

I know someone with the 42 and he raves about it, has it for 5 months and no problems.

How well does the screen work with a pc ? I'd like to use it mainly for xbox360 and the pc. Currently have a Sansui 32 inch and it works great.

I dont think it does...nor any of the cheaper brands. My brother in law has the 42" Sansui. I now know why not to but cheap...the picture quality compared to my 40" Sony is terrible. The picture on the Sansui starts to magnify as it moves towards the edge...as if the LCD were concave/convex. Same for all channels...so its a issue with his TV.

Rather save a bit more and buy a better brand name...thats my 2cents

lol CrazyFig, that sounds like one warpy screen heh...

The Sinotec Works Awesomely on a PC, and 42 inches for R9000 or whatever it's now is a bargain IMO.

LOL. Maybe its just his...but it makes watching sport interesting....esp the rugby! When they view in on a player....and his bicep is near either side....looks like he is the frickin Hulk (minus the green color). Magnifies the arm! LOL! I honestly dunno how he doesnt notice it....drives me insane!

It might just be a setting where the TV stretches the picture to fill the whole TV. On the Sinotec this mode is called Panorama, where it takes a 4:3 picture and stretches the edges so it fits into 16:9. But it also drives me crazy, I'd rather have the black bars on either side than have a distorted picture.

I wouldn't buy a 32" - it's either a 25" PC LCD Monitor, or a 42".

reason?

25" has a huge resolution, and a 42" has 1920x1080. 32" has a k@k resolution - so NOT GOOD FOR PC !!

don't do it!

Maybe get a cheapy TV now and in 3 -5 years get the 42 or bigger, by then numerous pay channels and hopefully some new HD content, is it really worth spending a large amount on HD tv when we dont have that much HD content yet?
Depends on what you are going to use the TV for I suppose.
32 makes normal TV look great on my LCD, except SABC 3 for some reason - ghosting even on my old TV.

I know many guys who spent 30K + on their TV's and the tech. is now so outdated and looks krap, but when you spend that amount you fool yourself into thinking it still looks good :)

My 42" Sansui was working like a beaut .. until a month or so ago! Its 1.5yrs old now, we run it at least 10hrs a day. Picture quality was supurb, but then it developed a very feint line right down the center of the screen . You got to really look for it if you have never noticed it before, but I see it all the time, irritates the shyte outa me. So its got a 3yr guarantee - it went in yesterday to see what the problem is. If its the controler board, its an easy fix... but if its the screen then its credit time - new set! :D

lol got mine this weekend, its a sweet looking TV and doesn't have that ugly silver piece at the bottom like the previous models, and no, it doesn't come with any cables, just a power cable and a remote (and no batteries for the remote :p) haven't had a chance to test it fully yet but the VGA input works like a charm and the picture is great!

I bought my 32 from game R3999, came with wall mount, batteries for remote, power cable and game threw in an hdmi cable.
Not bad at all.
Glad they did away with the ugly silver part and removable speakers :)

He has the Panorama setting turned on. I have this option, it makes 4:3 picture proper aspect (4:3) in the centre and at the edges stretches it out to 16:9, hence the stuff on the sides looks distorted.

hmmm, i have noticed that while watching SABC channels that the edges "zoom" but that even happens when watching certain DSTV channels. isn't that to compensate for rounded edges on standard/old TV's?

my dvd's/games/PC doesn't do that, so i'm assuming its the channel that causes it, and that some fancy TV's can compensate for this "bend"

i'm still loving my 32" sinotech.
