/from a other thread though there maybe other ppl having the same issue
do you have D'Link 2750-U router with slow to no internet access?
if so your problem might be DNS

that particular router had its DNS's changed lately, we believe it was a hacking attempt, to reroute DNS requests to a particular site namely
184.82.128.138
94.242.206.150

to change the DNS back to normal
login on to the router 10.0.0.2
username: admin password: admin
click advanced
click DNS
select Obtain DNS from a WAN interface
click apply

to prevent this from happening in future (experimental not proven to work/ but should work)
login on to the router 10.0.0.2
username: admin password: admin
click maintenance
click access controls
under administrator settings select the username "support" /edit thanks to ProAsm
the password is support
add a new password (what ever you like)
confirm password
click apply
hope this helps someone

Screen shots done by telkomza here

Thanks I will have a look when I get home - I had a problem like this about 2 - 3 months ago, Telkom did all kind of tests on the SDC up to the exhchange, they said there was a faulty card somewhere, not very eager to tell me the real problem. So I took the router to their front office, and got a new one, normally when I connect a new router I change user names & passwords.

Rather use Google's DNS servers:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

My DLink 2750U only has: User, Admin and Support ?

you are correct, it is Support
and support is also the password
did it from memory
will edit

See telkom has redone it with lovely screen shots only an hour later
did they just copy me ?

Changing the "support" password is not going to help if you don't also change the default "admin" password. :(

The thought process is that the router remotely accessible through the username support, but not remotely accessible thru the admin username ..... make sense:confused:?

but you are correct changing that username is good practice, but I focused on changing the support one cos of its remote accessibility and like I said this has yet to be proven as a preventative solution

/* keep confusing support with system

You're correct, I can only access my router with the Support profile from work. It doesn't have all the permissions of admin, I only recently found that out when I wanted to forward a port and the option wasn't in the menu list :)

The default password for the support account on mine was 'TelkomDlink12345'. I sure as heck never changed it. I kept trying to change the thing and it kept telling me the old password was wrong, so I found it in the page source. Very worrying this.

Grouter - Thanks a million for the password. Was looking for it for over a year.

Please elaborate on where you saw it in the source code. Very worrying indeed...

On the router page 'maintenance > access controls > Account Password', right click on the 'username' dropdown box field that displays "admin', "support" or "user" . Select "view frame source" from the right-click menu. All the passwords are displayed.

Unbelievable - passwords not encrypted and in plain view in source code. Surely Telkom is to blame as they reflashed the D-Link default firmware with their own custom crapware.

The weird thing is that I flashed my Dlink with the firmware from Dlink's own site as soon as I got it. So how did that 'TelkomDlink12345' password get there???

Then the official D-Link firmware does not contain passwords and must have manually been inserted by Telkom. Makes sense - you do not want firmware to overwrite your custom passwords.

My understanding is that a firmware update should do just that - overwrite everything, passwords included, to return the device to factory defaults. I can only surmise that the Dlink firmware from their own site contains these passwords.

I got it from here:

ftp://ftp.d-link.co.za/dsl2750u (Retail)/Firmware/Retail Version/Hardware Version T/T1/

But there are two versions, retail and telkom:

ftp://ftp.d-link.co.za/dsl2750u (Retail)/Firmware/
