The default password for the support account on mine was 'TelkomDlink12345'. I sure as heck never changed it. I kept trying to change the thing and it kept telling me the old password was wrong, so I found it in the page source. Very worrying this.

Hi

The default value for the "Support" account was changed with the latest Firmware version – AF_1.67_T10, so you should not have to be too concerned, you however still have to "Update" the password to protect yourself.

I don't have the Telkom branded router, a normal Dlink 2750U. the default password is not support or TelkomDlink12345

I was using a Linksys router, never had a problem, and all of a sudden about 3 months ago I can't connect anymore - the DSL light blinks and won't stay on.

Then I connect the line to my old Billion router and it connects fine.

So i thought ok this Linksys router must be broken.

Then I bought a new D-Link 2750U router. It gave me the same problem!! DSL light just blinks and never stays on. (The DSL light is like as if I never plugged in the telephone line)

I switched back to the Billion router and it works.

I then took the D-Link router and my Linksys router to my neighbour's house, and they both work fine and connects to the internet. That rules out any problems with the router or its settings.

At the moment my lines only takes my Billion router.

I tried explaining this problem to Telkom via all channels with no hope of them understanding what my problem is.

I have three D-Link 2750U routers. One receives DSL and the other two boost wifi. They all work great. I take one to the family beach house when I go and the 3G works perfectly.

Where can I get this version of firmware? Latest version on the web is AF_1.64_T10 http://www.tellumat.com/phones4telkom/p-wifi-router-sf.htm

Think I will install the version 1.70 from D-Link and see what happens...

I have issues where the modem disconnects after the following in the log:

May 10 19:40:58 user alert kernel: Intrusion -> IN=ppp0.1 OUT= MAC= SRC=106.187.50.133 DST=196.209.245.47 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=47 ID=30135 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=51304 DPT=22 WINDOW=14600 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 MARK=0x8000000

You think... Because none of the retail D-link 2750U routers I've ever worked with have that password out of the box. ;)

You may want to tread with care here.

Dont upload Telkom firmware, if your D-link 2750U router WAS NOT supplied by Telkom, or a Telkom reseller.

Get hold of Dlink in Centurion, get their official firmware for RSA region.

08600 DLINK (35465)

support@d-link.co.za

If your router was supplied by Telkom, let them sort it out.

Regarding DNS server settings.

If you own a retail 2750U not one supplied by Telkom.

In the Menu

Go to

Advanced => DNS =>

Use this option "DNS Server Configuration Obtain DNS info from a WAN interface"

or

call your ISP get their DNS server IP address

and click the button next to

"Use the following DNS server addresses"

Then type in the DNS server IP address which YOUR ISP told is their DNS server that is the closest to you.

By example; if you know how to look for this info; you will most likely find that you are often routing to a MTN DNS server if you are NOT a Telkom ISP client, your ISP may make use of a DNS server owned by someone else's, depending on which backbone they are on.

What that means is that the DNS server your ISP uses or prefers is a MTN server.

And so on.

Drew 106.187.50.133 is in Japan and the server IP 196.209.245.47 is part of Internet Solutions.

196.209.245.47 belongs to Internet Solutions Region:Cape Town (ZA)

Probe on port (DPT=22) It may not mean that you are being hacked...merely that some software on your system may be using those probed ports.

Hey folks,

If you're having connectivity problems and you log into your router and see that your DNS settings have been changed to two strange IPs, would you drop me a PM or mail before doing anything?

I'd like to help the folks at D-Link out with some router logs of 2750U's that are showing the problems described in the article.

Note that if you change any settings or reboot the router some of the logs are lost.

What we really need is someone who's settings have been tampered with who hasn't rebooted the router or made any changes that causes the router to reboot (such as changing passwords and DNS settings).

Thanks!

Hey Jan as in my OP I noted these I.P.'s 184.82.128.138 and 94.242.206.150 as being what most of the ppl's routers were changed to. Hope this helps
