Hi all,

I've recently received an SMS stating my DSTV account is more than R1000 in arrears??!!
How can this be if the account is (allways has been) on Debit order?

Before you ask...there is money in the debit account :D

Is this a SCAM?! or DSTV just decided not to inform us of changing they payment policy?

I've signed an debit order instruction, to 'my' bank, for them upon initial DSTV activation...
If DSTV decided to get paid cash every month from now on, the debit order has to be canceled, but DSTV hasn't informed us for this.

Anyone in similiar situation?

C'mon guys...I've done it already.

Every month for the past...what...5 years on the 01 of the month debit order goes trough.
Untill this month...

But, it's not only me...a friend of mine told me last week he had the same case...I didn't pay much attention then.

Something is going on and DSTV is keeping quiet as usual.

Multichoice changed some system recently (since April 2009). They no longer accept debit orders paid via a credit card. There was a massive campaign by them to tell their clients this. I had an old MNET account back in the day and still got the letter. So, chances are that you were on a debit order through your credit card in which case you haven't paid for May and June ... have a look at their website.

That seems to be the case...except I've missed the "massive campaign" bit and I haven't had any letters...only the monthly guide.
I wonder how they missed me in the campaign...but got the cell number right to send me an "unpaid account" SMS.

Thanks for the confirmation:) at least it's not some new scam thingy.

A friend of mine had his service suspended for just this reason. He also heard nothing from the "massive campaign".

Something happened to me you will need to call them to give them your bank account details for the new debit order.
You will also need to pay the outstanding balance "manually", I found easiest way to do this was to log on to my account at www.dstv.com where you can make one off payments using your credit card.

So you can pay on the website with your CC, but not by debit order from a CC? Epic fail DSTV!

Yes that is correct

Unfortunately YES.
I had to pay the outstanding amount on their website.
It's easy actually...but why it had to come to this?
I'll have to make them beneficiarry on the i'net banking so the money goes out every month on "autopilot".

Multichoice moves in misterious (for me) ways.
Bunch of.....

Credit Card payment not on DSTV(Multichoice) system

My Credit Card statement for May shows that Multichoice did deduct R559 from my account on 4 May. (Although they told me that its not possible, because the last Credit Card debit orders went through in April) It doesnt show on their systems. So they say I am one month behind.

The biggest problem is that is that I phoned 3X, email once and visited their office once without getting any feedback! Even with proof from my bank statements!!!!

Some one is ripping off Someone Else!

Check your statements.

Correct. They will only accept/activate debit orders on cheque accounts, transmission account or debit card accounts but due to credit card fraud no longer on credit cards...

I have a debit order on my cheque account and my debit order didn't go through on the 1st of August. Yet if I look at my account details on their website there is nothing yet in arrears.
