Yea i guess the point i was trying to make(as with other people) is that there would have been opportunity available! Granted its a public forum so im not sure how that would have panned out etc!

StonerStuart, maybe start doing pilates or yoga, both really good for you and as a side bonus you are likely to actually meet a number of people, probably more women, in a pretty relaxed environment. Sure you will hear about some other interesting social activities from there. Not meant to be a dating hint, but may have a side effect of improving those chances.
You mentioned you are in to sports, have you considered rock climbing? It is a somewhat individual sport, so you won't get forced in to the team scenario I am guessing you don't like, but you will meet people and have a great time.
