Nicci and Stuart sitting in a tree.......
:p

Hey Stoner, what stuff do you build in your spare time?
Being alone can be very liberating, lots of time to think and contemplate.

So far I have built a toy box for my niece and a table for my veranda, lots of jungle gyms for my cats, Now I am busy Building a habitat for my reptile. In the past tho I have built a **** load of stuff.

bought heating wire, took a piece of chip board, routed 4mm groves into the surface in an expanding square pattern, layed the heating wire. whacked some glue onto the surface, put a nice thick carpet on and mounted it on a post. Now my cats love to rather sleep on that during winter.

I am always doing something.

Yes it is very liberating to do stuff!

DIY! I love DIY, my problem is that i do DIY not for its usefulness but just because i enjoy it, for example i recently built an arcade machine which set me back quite a few bucks even though the likely hood of me actually using the thing often is slim! For me the fun was building the think, granted i still have a couple finishing touches to do so i am still enjoying the project!

I have so heat wire left over from when i converted my fish tank into a mini greenhouse! Cool idea re the cat pad!

I've come to the conclusion that I'm an introvert. I like people but I don't like the vast majority of them enough to want to spend very much time with them. It's not misanthropy. It's just that I don't feel that very many people are capable of adding anything of worth to my life that requires spending prolong amounts of time with them.

This +1000

Except i border more on the misanthropic side. I find most people rather annoying, needy and clingy.

Being alone means i can think, my mind can be at rest, i am not having to always guard against saying something that offends or upsets somebody else because my sense of humour is different, or i may not always be PC, or somebody is over sensative about some topic of conversation that i am not, etc etc.

In todays busy often intrusive lifestyle, being alone is a blessing, being comfortable with being alone is a gift.

I call it the herd mentality, that is, people who can't spend time alone or be by themselves, most of the ones I know of, do not have any hobbies. They work, socialise, watch tv, gossip about celebrities, and talk (and think) about mundane stuff, like the special on socks at Edgars or what they will eat while auto laughing when prompted during their favourite sitcom.

If these people can't be with someone, they are likely to be watching a series like Friends.

Only kidding, but I am curious about loners.

Other loners:

- are you sound observant (birds, far away traffic, faint music, the hum of the city, dripping tap)
- do you prefer bright sunlight or overcast - are you light sensitive ?
- do you tinker/potter about and not only on one thing at a time
- do you think longer term or shorter term
- do you prefer absolute order in your place or do you let the chaos build before sorting it out
- do you live in inner space, mostly in your head, and are you out of synch with those around you ?

Thats pretty cool, what like pin-ball?

Its a stand up arcade machine, just a lot less bulkier (Thinner and shorter). Can play pretty much any game you want, pacman, wonderboy, paperboy, mario, metal slug!

Heres a pic: http://s14.postimage.org/617xqelkf/20120225_171307.jpg

As you can see its not done(control panel needs to be finnished as well as marquee and a bit of other asthetics), but its in working order, using hyperspin as a front end and then i have a whole bunch of different emulators in my wheel! Sega, Nintendo,Atari and MAME to name the main ones!

That looks pretty cool. Did you use an LCD for the screen?

I wouldnt call myself a loner, but i do enjoy being by myself and can entertain myself(which i see a lot of people struggle to do).
-Noise irritates me at times, most of the time i am aware of noise around me
-I like sunlight, but i dont like heat
-My brain is always thinking about 10 things at once and im always looking for something new to mess with
-My long term is planned out roughly for the next 4 years
-I like order, but stuff can get to a level of messiness before it bothers me, my room is always clean before bed though(**** goes where it belongs)
-Not out of sync with the people around me, but i can live in my head at times!

-Yes I hear noises allot, annoying ones. Stupid leaves falling!
-I love sunlight, but yes it hurts my eyes if i look too much!
-No
-I think about the present, near future and the far away future, not forgetting the past!
-Order in my house is essential but chaos is welcomed.
-Most of the time I do not sync well with other, I live in my head, thinking allot and battling to fall asleep.

Her habitat is not nearly complete, so far I have laid out the shaping of her pond.

That pond is pretty big for her, it is 1200x800x400. Then that pond is going to go into a tank that is 1600x1100x800 so soon/ish she is going to have some space to play around in.
