Do you personally know of anybody who has died of the virus and 100 per cent confirmed by an autopsy? South Africa only.

well, i'm now a suspected case, per my doctor who hammered me with double doses of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, and a backup steroid script if the test is positive. trying to find a testing centre but both places I went to yesterday told me they were full up and couldn't accommodate. trying again today.

will update you in 72 hours (?)

:)

edit: been flat on my back for days, btw. ****ing hectic. i haven't been this ill since I was a kid.

I though steroids makes it worse? Good luck by the way.

Dexamethasone?

What is dexamethasone and does it work against COVID-19?

Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid used in a wide range of conditions for its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant effects.
It was tested in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in the United Kingdom’s national clinical trial RECOVERY and was found to have benefits for critically ill patients.
According to preliminary findings shared with WHO (and now available as a preprint), for patients on ventilators, the treatment was shown to reduce mortality by about one third, and for patients requiring only oxygen, mortality was cut by about one fifth.

Lady at Cle du Cap on Sunday. 81 years old. No autopsy though. Her family are JWs and won't allow it. Before last Wednesday, she had never been sick in her life, apparently had all her teeth.

Four of the staff are positive, so all the residents are in a panic

No point in getting worked up about it. Wait for your results and deal with it as it comes. Just take it easy for now and look after yourself.

Pretty big hotspot the central and souther suburbs, apparently so is the Westrand, yet know of no-one. Even people who were exposed to others who've had it came out clean.
