This is a given..

The only real question is which types of crime will increase.

Only heinous crimes like smoking............./s

Yes crime will escalate due to the anc screwing the economy over and loss of jobs etc. We have already seen a huge increase in crime in my area no matter what the cvnt said today. I never believe their stats or anything they say.
House breaking, muggings, armed robberies, hijackings, cars being stolen etc are on the increase. Get involved in your area and you will realize things are getting worse and closer by the day.

Well it already has increased because the ANC has turned ordinary people into criminals. Not that anyone didn't warn everyone what would happen if a bunch of communists end up running a country.
“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”

Was tempted to say yes.. but also no. Urban hijacking is harder when u at home card parked in garage and people don't spot your car and follow u.. so apparently there is an increasing trend of waiting for victims when they fill up.

Home break-ins will however be armed and may go up as a result though.

Corruption is entrenched in our society. It is enshrined by our politicians. Would this government care about crime being on a dramatic increase thanks to COVID-19 and their lockdown policies? It entirely comes down to which exact crimes will be on the increase.
