Do you think LSD has any benefits?

As opposed to someone who is drunk that can perform all those tasks perfectly? Infact i would think its much more likely that someone would drive or operate heavy machine under the influence of alcohol than lsd. Anyway im not trying to argue for the legalisation of lsd and i certainly don't think its illegal status is a conspiracy, i just find this argument for why lsd is illegal to be pretty silly.

Exactly my point, alchol was before the laws. You have to be realistic the industry to simply to big to ban it now. If you can ban alcohol today how many people lose jobs? restaurants bars ect. What happens to countries economies? alot of countries depend on exporting beer whiskey ect. Banning alcohol today would be a disaster because of this. Nobody listens to "enjoy responsibly" for alcohol where people will obey for LSD

People on LSD can't fill out a questionnaire? Where do you get this from? You DO need to provide sources please. Why would a surgeon or a person using machinery take LSD? That's ridiculous. Of course you shouldn't drive on it.

look at the journal article techne provided

That's not true. Most people drink responsibly IMO.

Despite disagreeing with you I am enjoying this debate. Having a look at that journal article (the Maps one).

Hmmm depends, yeah most people are responsible or dont get caught if you consider the amount of alcohol consumed versus the incidence rate of indcidents (? Lol?) but take easter for example how many people lose their lives every year due to driving under the influence. LSD will not help this cause. Secondly consider the dosing for alcohol, yes the LD50 profile of LSD is better than ethanol, BUT with potency LSD is far superior. One stamp will blast your mind to the moon where as how many shots of alcohol? usually when you had to much alcohol your body will shut you down (pass out), you cant harm anyone in this state, with LSD this does not occur

For crying out loud people on LSD are unable to fill in a questionaire and you want to put it available legally for recreational use?

I have in fact filled out a questionaire while on LSD. In a police station. To report a crime.

Other things I have done while under the influence of LSD:

- Write an Accounting test (aced it too)
- Attend a christening
- Attend a family Sunday lunch.
- Prepare food (see above)
- Played strategy games on a PC and kick ass
- Attend to a work emergency (I'm in IT)
- Drive long distance (stupid I know but I was young)
- Bungi jump (I don't recommend this one :) )
- Hike in the mountains
- Row down a river

Like I said before its a long time since I had any and I don't recommend anyone to take it but don't assume your knowledge of the chemistry of a compound tells you everything there is to know. Remember its not the drug that alters your state but your brain's response to it. This is how simple molecules can have complex effects.

Nobody should drive on LSD, I agree, but I don't see it being a drug of abuse at all. LSD is not addictive, whereas alcohol is very addictive. It's not the sort of thing anyone would want to do casually, IMO.

Also it's not true that someone with too much alcohol will always pass out and not harm anyone. That's rubbish, I have ample evidence to the contrary. People can get very harmful and scary when drunk, completely lose their minds. In contrast, in my experience the LSD state does not make you inclined towards violence.

Everyone just downs alcohol by the litres then? No such thing as having one beer? Also it must be noted that lsd is ineffective if you take it constantly, in that sense one can be more responsible with lsd and its also less addictive.

As has been pointed out people often don't just pass out when drunk. They cause fights and accidents , all those husbands that come home and beat their wives are certainly not "passed out".

And LSD is suppose to make this go away?

You cant extrapolate your experience as a norm .... are you high? as you can see out of the few people posting here one has already taken LSD and driven

Depends how you look at an addiction. People may not neccessarily get addicted to the substance but rather the effect of the substance. Alcohol is not that addictive actually, its the intoxication that they are addicted to, the actual change in their mental state. Thats why people drink, blow some steam feel nice ect ect ect. Its also not fair to do a direct comparison of alcohol to LSD why? because of the number of users thats why.

excuse the tripple post

Nobody claims that.

It's not addictive you say, oh wait it is addictive? Oh it's all how you look at it?

Alcohol is addictive. I thought that was an extremely well known fact. It's physically addictive too, and alcohol withdrawal can have deadly side effects.

You're the one who made the comparison!

Was reading about high dosage experiences and heard about the LSD thumbprints. Getting a thumbprint of pure LSD crystal. That's insane.
