As I said in another thread, I saw from a doctor in America that restricting the sale of alcohol reduces the number of alchohol-related casualties in hospitals, allowing doctos to focus their energey on Covid-19.

So, no, I do not think they should allow alcohol again.

if people drink they will have a diminished sense of responsibility and will jol around being infected and infecting other people, therefore the lockdown will continue for a number of years until all the drinkers die out, then the infections will slow down and the lockdown will be able to be lifted. Looks like the first death from the virus was common sense.

Drinking is usually a social pastime and we must keep socializing to a minimum otherwise whats the point of the three weeks of lock down we have had.

I love my wine and beer, but I drink responsibly, most don't, so no, even if I must go without. One thing people are not asking about is casino's. They used to be packed night and day. Imagine all the money gamblers are saving. Govt should seriously encourage saving, ban gambling. Most pensions go to casinos. Had we a culture of saving we wouldn't be desperate in these difficult times.

If the despots in our beloved government attempted to at least provide clear and transparent reasoning for their decisions, their decisions may have found more support. But, yes, these are the people that brought you Zuma, the Guptas, Eskom, SAA and more.

The actual reasoning behind the ban makes somewhat sense, but again, with 3000 infections as of today and 50 odd deaths, do we really need to have had more beds available?

Also, take a leaf out of the history books. What was the net result of prohibition in the USA?
Organised crime.

Now we have made criminals out of ordinary citizens, smugglers, and criminals out of the shop owners, created a whole new criminal sector for bootleggers and profiteering.

Substance abusers will find a way to get their fix. Did the war on drugs teach these idiots nothing? I know of people in Western Cape townships living on government grants willing to pay exorbitant fees for liquor from their grocery budget.

So no. Alcohol should not be banned.
