Block all IPs except your home IP and add tailscale exit node to either the server or your home server etc.
can’t be open.
Funny enough, started a new instance last night of Adguard and it isn’t working ie. No traffic from my home network for some reason. Port 80 and 53 open but still no dice.
Nothing in logs either about requests from my phone or home network
I have adguard running on my home server for all devices at home. This Oracle one is for my phone when I'm away from home WiFi.I use Tailscale exit node on there hope that’s all good
Public DNS is abusable so I get where they're coming fromI didn't realise DNS was against their terms of service. Oops. I was using it for my phone which obviously has a dynamic IP. I guess I'm going to have to come up with another plan.
OpenVPN or another VPN service you can connect to and route throughI have adguard running on my home server for all devices at home. This Oracle one is for my phone when I'm away from home WiFi.
I actually see Adguard has a public DNS available. I'll give that a go for now - can't see why it shouldn't do what needs to be done.OpenVPN or another VPN service you can connect to and route through
Ah yes they do,it's actually my primary upstream for piholeI actually see Adguard has a public DNS available. I'll give that a go for now - can't see why it shouldn't do what needs to be done.
Could you post the link? I'm not able to access my instance at all at the moment so not quite sure what to do now.Someone on Reddit also

Thanks
Also had adguard dns on my vps (open to all IPs) but ended up removing it and just going with Adguard's own resolver.
I have Wireguard permanently switched on my phone tunnelled into my house where I use NextDNS. You can do the same to Oracle but convenient to access LAN resources at home whenever I need. Wireguard is fast and very reliable with minimal drain on the phone battery. In addition I use Brave for browsing so its been a very long time since I have been able to see internet ads.I managed to register a new tenancy. Bit crazy for the next two weeks, but I'll set up a new adguard home server early December. Any suggestions how best to protect it?

I have considered this. Only issue is that I am using Mikrotik which only supports this with containers so a bit too fragile for my liking. Hope they create a native package then this would definitely be the way to go for me.I've become a true believer of CloudFlare's Zero Trust model.
I see they have a Android "warp" client, might be worth a try.
The Zero Trust model is that you install a Zero Trust client inside your network, that client will open a connection to CloudFlare.
There are no open ports on your firewall or anything like that.
Then CloudFlare will connect back over that connection into your network.
The benefit of this is that CloudFlare is the front for your network.
You can then choose auth models too.
For example, you can use your Google account for Auth. (and google itself implements all kinds of 2 factor options)
Another option is to lock it down to a country and/or ASN (even more extreme lockdown).
You can also combine these, ie. Google Auth + Country Lockdown + ASN lockdown
I'm doing everything over HTTPS so I don't need a WARP client but maybe it'll work well for you guys.
What is the cost of using CloudFlare for this purpose?
