Do you want a free VPS? - Always free - from Oracle

I ssh into the free vps (hosted in Wales) and do OS updates. All i have running on it is a basic nginx server, which I haven't modifed for a year (at least).
How does this have any connection with keeping a 365 developer account active?
 
Anyone experiencing any issues with Oracle?

My NL instance went dead suddenly, I cannot log into the console to reset, despite resetting the password. I am getting an invalid username/password error, despite credentials being correct.

No email informing me of account suspention, I always ensure I don't violate their policies, and keep myself below the radar, with things I do, and yet my instance is down, with no way of signing in.

Everything on my end seems fine, can SSH in fine and login on the Oracle website fine

Same for me in both NL and ZA regions just had to add the authenticator app. It was in the email reminders I was deleting all this time.

+1, everything has been fine for me in both NL and ZA regions.
instances have been up for a very long time and are still going strong
 
Contacted Oracle Support, they advised me my instance was terminated, but they cannot give reason or assist to get it up and running again.

I understand Oracle may be within the rights, to do so, but I have not violated any policies, I am sure to stay within free tier limits.
If I did do something wrong, they should have notified me.

Could be something as simple as the underlying hardware failed. Have you tried to just create a new one? If the storage volume wasn't deleted, you can try and attach that to a new instance to get the data back.

You usually don't get backups done for you by cloud providers, and they never touch an account for you. You should do the recovery yourself. That is, if the underlying hardware failed, which they will not tell you.

Doesn't sound like you lost access to the account.

They typically never give out a reason unless it's DMCA related.

What were you running on the server? 👀
 
VPS is about 4 years old, and ran various things over the years, but the main ones were Rclone, Plex, SABNZBD, NextPVR, Cockpit, Swizzin, ErsatzTV, and Netmaker. Nothing that would scream illegal, I most ceratinly did not do anything such as mining, or torrenting.
 
When I say nothing illegal, I mean nothing that should raise attention to Oracle - I understand that everything carries risks. Usenet, as well as PVR traffic I would assume is low risk. Things like Mining, and Torrenting are high risk..
 
I have reason to believe the reason for my instance being suspended was due to my payment info.

This was the first Oracle cloud account I ever created - I used my Crapitec card, back then Oracle was far less strict, than they are today. I've never been able to re register with any Capitec Account since, and I have reason to believe others can't either. - This isn't the first time my Capitec card has given me issues when using it for online payments.

I'm going to look into switching banks for some things very soon..
 
Meh I deleted mine. Tried to deploy immediately and now ICE errors (insufficient capacity errors).

So annoying!
