Here's a fun way to do your own independent Telkom Customer Satisfaction survey. Guaranteed to provide different results than any Telkom-sanctioned Markinor survey.

1. Pick a phone number from your phone book or Yellow Pages. Any number.
2. Phone Telkom's toll-free account enquiries hotline (10210)
3. Follow the voice prompts for account balance information. (Ignore the bit about "Residential customers" - this works just as well for business numbers)
4. Enter the phone number you randomly selected.
5. Write down all the information so graciously supplied by the friendly automated robot-voice.
6. Shake your head in disbelief.
7. Now phone your respondent.
8. Ask them how they feel about the fact that Telkom supplied you with their private and supposedly confidential account information.
9. If they don't believe you, tell them what their last payment amount and current balance is. If they insist, tell them how you got the info.
10. Record their response as accurately as possible (You are trying to be professional after all)
11. Repeat 1-10 until you get bored. (It gets funnier the more you do it)
12. Post your results here or send it to your favourite newspaper.

What tells me you have tried this already???

Rather be silent and thought of as a fool than speak and remove all doubt.

Bugger, if only they were that quick to improve services when people complained there would be no need for a SNO

Formula for relief:
(Car + tow rope + 1st gear) - telkom exchange box = big smile

Still working here ChezAnwyne [:D]

No ID required, quite a frightening concept really, but could be use full, I did test on my own number so it may be intelligent use of caller ID. On second thoughts, intelligent = Telkom, does not compute [;)].

Cheers

They seem to have a slightly different system/procedure after hours.
I also used a cellphone, so no Caller ID involved.
