Does anyone know if the SEACOM Cable Break is affecting the Telkom LTE packages?

For the past few days, connecting to Europe servers to play games online has been horrendous. Pings have been going absolutely crazy, and I've been trying to reach Telkom to ask them, but nobody seems to be able to give me a reasonable answer.

So is it the SEACOM Cable break affecting the Telkom Uncapped LTE packages?
I've checked my usage for the month - its not even near 100GB yet so I doubt I'm being throttled yet and that shouldn't affect latency/pings.

If its not the SEACOM thing, then I have no idea what the heck is going on.

Hi Shonay,

I believe that this could be the main cause of latency issues (pings). An article I read stated that the east coast of Africa will be affected especially trying to access European servers. I am also on the uncapped LTE package and noticed a drastic decrease in speeds, on Speedtest.net, when accessing the Telkom SAIX server. After changing the server, I noticed that the speeds went back to normal, so seems that telkom has been hit quite severely. I also noticed this while gaming as well (PS4), with a lot of lag.

Apparently the is not given date as to when the the cable will be sorted out, but will be attended to once the go ahead for all undersea procedures and maintenance is approved.

Hope this helped.

Thanks Nolz-ZN!
I thought for a moment I was the only one having this sort of issues with it.
Much appreciated.

On uncapped LTE - noticed international +500ms to London and less than 1Mb/s down on international speedtests. Perhaps they have to rerouted and are causing strain on Telkoms international links.

Yep, according to seacom.mu/news. Traffic has been rerouted to help with download speeds for now, but latency still isn't the best until they fix the cable. ETA 3 - 6 weeks.
