I have tried using my Mtn hsdpa card for gaming but the lag is very bad due to the bursty nature of the connection. Is there a way to stabilze it?

I use it for Gaming only.

WOW
America's Army
Guildwars etc

I do get days of total frustration but on others it's flying like a bird. America's army is a real latency tester. 1 Milli second of lag and your dead. Note that 3G is usless for online gaming. Either HSDPA or nothing ;)

Ok cool... Do you have full signal where you stay. I only get about 2 bars out of 5...

In the house i Get 1 bar :(

Outside on the Balcony I get 4. I need to invest in an aerial :)
Two bars would be good. Just be prepaired for some times of frustration. but overall it's not that bad. I would recomend either ADSL.. But then again I can't wait for months :p

LOL...

So there's absolutly no way of "stabilzing" the connection... Would an aerial help me out do you think?

A Aerial will deff. help. The thing that causes lag is the packet loss. With the aerial that is held to the utmost lowest ;)

I play a couple of games online as well.. only open-source Linux stuff though.. no "big brand" games.. :p

ActionCube
FlightGear - Heavy Bandwidth Eater!!
Daimonin - Very low bandwidth.. < a few megs an hour.. :)

Overall it's not so bad.. but lag can be a bit of a problem at times.. I've gotten a ping as low as around 350 (internaional) at times..

Sobersoldier, just as a note. Guildwars, WOW any rpg should work fine. But forget about playing any fps. As the latency on the MTN network to local gaming servers are +- 200 - 300 ms.

Yeah i saw that. My ping on Halflife 2 death match went from 60 to 600 to 100 to 800 and so on.

Well then I'm screwed... I like Half life 2 DM / counterstrike and Call of duty 2. D@mn...

Yes don't ever play FPS unless it's on local servers ;)

If its only for gaming, get a local only adsl account. Latency on GSM network will always be a problem. I hope HSUPA will solve this.

That sounds cool... What happens though when i want to browse international sites?

Basically a newer version of HSDPA that will allow high speed uploads as well as downloads.

Any idea when this will be implemented?
