as the title says, one of the staff in my building has a nasty condition on his foot and his local day hospital just gave him some painkillers

to my surprise he came to work tonight, but he needs medical attention soon, can he just go to Groote Schuur tomorrow morning, and if so, where exactly?

he can barely walk so I don't want him to run around seeking assistance

Yes, you can

Yes there is an emergency unit. He could even go in now but might be triaged to the back of the line (Friday night is usually busy)

Turn into Groote Schuur Road from Main Road (Google Maps / Waze) - the chap at the security booth will direct you to the Emergency Entrance if you can't figure it out from the signposts.

okay he went to Somerset hospital, was admitted this afternoon

GSH is a tertiary hospital. Usually problems that secondary hospitals can't handle get sent there, so very few walk ins. New Somerset Hospital would be where most primary care cases would go from the primary care clinic / ED, unless they were serious enough to go to a tertiary hospital. It also depends on the drainage area.
