Does the PCI adapter for the Laptop modem work? I read in a previous post that you can purchase this adaptor from vodaworld. Is anyone actually using this at the moment because I did buy an adapter, not the one mentioned here in the forums though and I did not get it to work with the laptop modem.

Hi Shadley...

Are you referring to the iBurst UTC modem? This is a PCMCIA device that plugs into a notebook...

iBurst does not have a PCI adapter ... only an
external unit (USB & Ethernet) UTD and
"internal" unit (PCMCIA)

If you are referring to a PCMCIA carrier for PCI [so that you can use a pcmcia card in a desktop pc], then yes, if you get a full pcmcia to pci bridge, like those sold at Miro, you can use them with the iBurst UTC's.

Yes that is the exact way I am talking about. Where could I get one of those pci bridge thingies and how much would it cost.
Do you know of anyone that is using this at the moment for Iburst

I was also thinking that a PCMCIA-PCI adapter card could be used. But on the downside, you will have to move your whole desktop to a sweet spot instead of just a UTD.....and that might not be a convenient place to have your desktop (on a window sill maybe?)

Just be careful that you get the right bridge .... Mustek used to sell one that only worked with their wifi network card...

I have used a bridge from www.miro.co.za with the UTC under linux ... it works well.
