Assuming you need electricity and Internet etc. at your work to do your job, does your company have a backup soliton during loadshedding?

If not, what do you and the rest of the employees do during this period?

My company does, I don't. The latter is more important since I WFH.

So maybe rephrase your question for folks like me.

Other:

Reception/admin do, but only for computers, servers and 2 vinyl printers.

Rest of the factory would need it's own power-plant to keep running.

We only need Internet and everyone is on a MacBook with it's own battery so pretty easy to keep everything online and keep trucking through a load shedding.

I do want to look at replacing the lead-acid based UPS's with Lithium Ion ones once they reach their end of life though.

Do they provide you with a backup solution to do your work during loadshedding, from home. If not, Do you work the time in later?

So what do the rest do during loadshedding?

So what do the rest do during loadshedding?

Put heat covers on the zinc pots to slow down the cooling, clean up work areas, prepare new racks for plating, prepare items for plating by wiring them, painting, packing, help in departments that do not need electricity or processes that do not need electricity.

Wait for the power to come back on.

Work has provided some people at my company with power banks and backups for laptops and routers.

I already had my own stuff (2 x backups for all my networking stuff about R3k in total with the cabling, 1 x Ecoflow Delta for R20k).

Our building has backup generators, the lights just trip when they kick in so its only really my test machine that is affected.
The network stuff must be on a UPS but its only needed for 2 seconds.

At home we all have laptops so no effort has been made to assist. I'm beginning to see grumblings about laptops that don't last 2 hours on battery so possibly they might provide battery backup on a case by case basis.

It would be kinda Ironic if I worked for a company that sells solar equipment doesnt have anything to back themselves up during loadshedding  .

But yes we do
