"He was actually forced to go there because no-one offered him a Super 14 contract in South Africa. He has been playing Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup rugby for the past two seasons, but he has not been given a chance to prove himself in the Super 14.

Because he isn't good enough to play that level.

He really wants to play at that level, and this trial with the Brumbies gives him a chance to hopefully fulfil that dream."

Really wanting to play at that level and BEING able to play at that level are two very different things

He is 23 now and wants to play top-level rugby. He also needs to earn a proper living. He has also sent his CV to many teams in France, England, Australia and New Zealand, so we are also awaiting answers from them."

You sure are going to wait long, unless offers from 2nd division teams are going to be looked at

I agree, wtf?

If you have not been contacted to discuss contracts it means no one thinks you are good enough at that level. Get over it.

Also that is why it is very important to have some proper education :D

If he was good enough to play super 14 in SA they would have picked him...... he is still young so why not preservere instead of leaving because he is impatient???

Typical brainless responses here.

I say let him go, it a job. If you can't get the job here that you want, you would go to Australia or the UK like millions of South Africans are doing right now.

The only thing is Sarfu needs to keep in contact thats if they don't want them to play for other countries and he's not the only one.

Its hard to say whether he is good enough for Super 14. South African teams tend to take size over skill most times so the Brumbies might be a good fit.

He's determined thats for sure and yep its a job - harder than most real jobs because you gotta be at least half decent.

Its people like this that get further than most, make it happen rather than wait for it to come to you.

ROFL :D

Did you think before posting?

If a company is looking for someone with a M in engineering and you have a b.com accounting you are not going to get the job, no matter where you go.

Simple if you are good enough you will get picked, he might become a better/more rounded player there and then turn out to be the next carter, but atm he is not anywhere near good enough for S14 IMO.

i dont watch much rugby, but the way i see it if that the guy cant hook up with a good team this side, so why not try somewhere else? Whats the problem with that?

So he gets shot down and gets nothing there, he hasn't lost anything. But if he does manage to get something, hey good for him. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Never said he should not go and try somewhere else (infact that would have made him an even bigger idiot), I only said that he should stop bitching and moaning about no one in SA wanting to give him a chance.

Yeap, it is your right to believe that you are good enough, but don't complain when others don't think so, its not your right to be picked ;)

I still think he is below par but those are my beliefs :)

The only reason Dollie is not working in his dad's business or studying to secure himself a future is because he's a coloured fly half. He's not rated anywhere, he can't even make the Boland team, but someone must be interested. He'll be back from Australia before you can say "G'day Mate"!
This is the one bad side of quotas, the other being players like Habana, Pieterson etc have to carry the quota tag around their necks even though they are clearly superior to other players in their position.
