Massive Dome-shaped TV starts testing in Las Vegas

Madison Square Garden (MSG) and Sphere Entertainment have begun testing a 17,600-seat venue surrounded by an enormous animated sphere.

Twitter user @MichelR3764150 posted a two-part video of the sphere — which measures 157 metres across and 112 metres tall — being tested on Saturday, 1 July 2023.

Guests can also opt for seating with haptic feedback, including cold wind, hot wind, and scents.

I'm not sure I want to be smelling everyone's farts and calling it an experience

Can imagine it'll be very cool. Even the domed screen at the CPT planeterium is a lot of fun to watch things on.

What practical use is a dome shaped LED display going to solve?
It adds a lot to the realism / immersion of the 3d effect when your peripheral vision (and more when you turn your head) includes the 3d scene. Like at Ster Kinekor your peripheral is a black wall. Being able to move your head and look around without the illusion breaking is pretty cool.

Ah... I forgot this is not to look at from the outside. From the inside it must be really cool.

I wonder how often external individual panels need replacing? And who the poor soul is who has to monitor all of that to identify blown panels.

This is actually extremely cool! Can't wait for February to check this out in person.
