It boggles the mind why people still employ domestics. Clean your own bloody house or live with the consequences.

Your statement doesnt make sense, its like saying why buy a car- just walk. Im exchanging other people's time for my money. Unless you have a lot of time to waste, then sure.

It boggles my mind why people still eat meat. We'll stop employing domestic workers if you stop eating animals, deal?

Point is you don't NEED meat, you just like it and want it. Also domestics doesn't kills you, criminals do. Do your rape people just because you are a man?

All people with Zimbabwean domestics should switch to Lesotho ones as a precautionary measure, looks like the Zims are learning all the bad habits from local domestic workers.
Years ago, there was this particular domestic helper from Zim in my complex.
She worked for 3 different families during her short stint in the complex. A short lady with shifty eyes and a stride of a Jozi street thug. I saw her moving groceries out of one house one day but thought nothing of it.

Then I saw her handing bags of groceries to some kids at the gate. Then after few weeks, she disappeared. My curiosity got better of me, so asked the guards a few questions. Se told me she was fired for theft. She stole groceries and other items during the day. It sounds like security became suspicious and asked her employers if indeed they give her that much groceries.

Yoh, surely this is not an indictment on all Zimbabwean domestics? Painting with a broad brush here, no?

We have had a few over the years and most of them had been great. Only one had been a bit on the lazy side...

Why?

If I have money to employ someone to free up my time then that's exactly what I will do.
I'd rather spend that money on stuff that'll make things easier for me. Have a dishwasher and got a steam generating iron to cut half the time off my ironing. I also upgraded my mop to something with a water dispenser attached (so I don't have to carry a bucket) and next will probably get a robot vacuum cleaner. Got a cordless Philips haircutter that's already paid off by cutting my own hair etc.

False dichotomy. You can get all that stuff and get a domestic worker. Then they can be more productive and do a better and quicker job of cleaning the house.
