We called our DW this afternoon. She starts with us again on Monday. Rona is with us for a year or 2 so whether we bring our DW back now or in summer, same same. Need her to look after the kids while we work. Organising 2 masks for her and hand sanitiser. She's very aware of the virus and safety protocols.

Yep, also going for it... We can't exactly stay locked up for 2 years so might as well just get it over with.

What's the rule for transport for DW? Not clear for me. Do they have to use private transport? Is a minibus taxi considered private?

I don't want to pay for Uber, etc, cos those fees are going to cost me R300 a day which is more than her daily rate of R265.

She i being paid fully during lockdown, and we bought lots of food, and educational stuff to support her and her family during lockdown .

If Uber and like is considered mandatory, then I guess she is going to be out of a job as our income has been impacted and I can't substantiate paying for her transport too.

Mine scheduled for next week. Want my house back in order.
Gardener coming back. Awesome dude.

Finally some sort of normality in this circus.

Thanks, I recall seeing first draft of L3 and thought it was still valid . Makes it easier to tell her she needs to be back subject to safety precautions being taken.

What safety precautions can she take if she's in a crowded taxi?

This really sucks. I mean - I'm not ready for mine to come back. I want her to return, however don't want her within my safe space at home. Sadly, its seeming like we may retrench her, as i dont see things in CPT settling down anytime soon.

Made a decision to invite the gardener back in spring when there's more for him to do. Autumn is quite busy in the garden but I can do most of it most of it myself and the pool is virtually dormant.

Paying him 90% of his salary because mine's been cut by 50%.

Asked DW to hold for now, both wife and I still working from home, kids at home, don't really want another person here at the moment, it'll be crowded.

She is still getting her full salary, plus she has her 2 kids to look after, unemployed husband.

We shall see tomorrow, but first thing is to change clothes and sjower when she arrives and also to recommend to her to do same when she gets back home. Whether that happens or not, we shall see . Worst case, herd immunity.
