I agree with this.

Why punish the residents who are (hopefully) paying their due amount tot he municipality? It is not their fault that the municipality is not paying Eskom.

The flip side is that they can vote out the political party causing the mess !!

Ditto. Is I said in the other thread. I't wont happen. ANC and others will clamber for votes and bail them out. Thats is what Eskom is aiming for, call this a blackmail exercise for financial donations and support.

Nothing will work. The non-payers will continue to not pay. If power was to be restored more illegal connections will follow of which everyone is too afraid to remove. The paying group will be too small to change the control over the municipality. Only hope is to sub divide all extensions into municipalities only those paying will receive power. Unfortunately this will only be white populated areas and will not bode well with the EFF and ANC, privileged white argument again...

I want Eskom to cut my power. Fck them and waterworks. I have enough resources to supply my own water and electricity.

What about hospitals, frail care clinics, etc. where such a step could lead to people suffering or dying? Remember that this will be Eskom cutting the feed, not the municipality loadshedding selected areas in the towns/cities.

That is why it will never be done. It is only scare tactic. Eskom threatened for three months to cut my municipalities power. It never happened.

Prolonged load-shedding. Now there is a probability.

If you read the details it's for several hours a day in peak time, not 24x7.
Similar impact to load shedding but every day.

And you reckon those facilities have sufficient backup power for 2x 4 hours slots per day?

So the ratepayers for the local institutions and us taxpayers for the national institutions must bail them out?

No. Time to throw poo at your councillors and force them to pay eskom.

I say cut them off and then immediately hold municipal elections.
