At a testy Saturday evening press conference, newly minted White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer offered a pair of novel defenses for the apparent small size of the crowds attending the inauguration of Pres. Donald Trump.

“This was the first time in our nation’s history that floor coverings have been used to protect the grass on the [National] Mall,” Spicer said. “That had the effect of highlighting any areas where people were not standing, while in years past the grass eliminated this visual. This was also the first time that fencing and magnetometers went as far back on the Mall, preventing hundreds of thousands of people from being able to access the Mall as quickly as they had in inaugurations past.”

However, CNN’s Jim Acosta spoke with a representative of the U.S. Secret Service, who said “no magnetometers were used on the National Mall for Trump’s inauguration.”

Acosta also posted photos of workers laying down ground covers to protect the grass on the National Mall in January of 2013, disproving Spicer’s claim that the Trump inauguration was the first use of ground covers.

i expect politicians to talk a bit of crap, they use tried and tested bs, as scripted by the batman movie(not the other way around). they say things to appease as many indifferent views as possible.

the media however, i expect to be the ones that show us the truth, not jump on a bandwagon without confirming if the information is true or not.

But because CNN bad reputation now you have to wander how much of their fact checking can you actually believe? So if you want the truth you'll have to go and do some research on your own. Nobody has time to check if they used white grass covers in 2009. This is the problem with the media taking sides.

But isint the reason he is getting prominence is because he used the small numbers report to lambast the media on their lies , perhaps he should have told the media that his largest support base is not in the region, if he did not try to counteract the report with a "lie" the media would have no reason to attack him, this just makes the media look correct on this issue, perhaps the crowd size was a big issue in Trumps opinion hence why he decided to focus on it
