Sources say Trump's CIA visit made relations with intel community worse

U.S. government sources tell CBS News that there is a sense of unease in the intelligence community after President Trump’s visit to CIA headquarters on Saturday.

An official said the visit “made relations with the intelligence community worse” and described the visit as “uncomfortable.”

Authorities are also pushing back against the perception that the CIA workforce was cheering for the president. They say the first three rows in front of the president were largely made up of supporters of Mr. Trump’s campaign.

Creepy.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...donald-trump-reimposes-abortion-a7542216.html

Activists have condemned as an “assault on women's health”, a decision by Donald Trump to block US funding for health clinics around the world that provide abortion services.

One of the three executive orders Mr Trump signed on his first Monday morning as president, was to reinstate the so-called Mexico City Policy, a rule originally introduced by Ronald Reagan.

The rule, which was revoked by Barack Obama, forces NGOs to agree to “neither perform nor actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations” as a prerequisite for federal funds.

Activists say the rule threatens to block access to safe abortions for countless thousands of women in the developing world. Campaigners had said ahead of Mr Trump’s inauguration, they feared he would reintroduce the policy as a gift to Vice President Mike Pence, known for his staunch opposition to abortion rights.

This could be bad news for AIDS clinics in SA that rely on US funding.

Woops. Someone went off script.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jan/23/us-denies-russia-airstrikes-syria

The Pentagon has flatly denied a Russian government claim that both nations’ warplanes conducted a joint combat mission in Syria.

On Monday, the Russian defense ministry claimed to have received coordinates of Islamic State positions via a US-Russian communications channel, and that two jets from the US-led coalition participated in a strike alongside Russian aircraft.

But the Pentagon, now helmed by Trump’s appointee James Mattis, issued a round denial of the Russian account.

“The Department of Defense is not coordinating airstrikes with the Russian military in Syria,” said spokesman Eric Pahon, who added that he was not aware of any coalition member aiding Russia in this instance.

The White House, however, signaled it was open in principle to joint military strikes with Russia in Syria.

Sean Spicer Grilled Over Whether Trump Team Brought People to Cheer at CIA Visit

The press sec then stated that the “audio alone speaks volumes to what happened,” and that there was definitely excitement in the room from the CIA personnel present. When pressed again about whether those in the front rows with CIA employees, Spicer said he didn’t “have a seating chart.”

Asking someone to the side what the total number brought by the Trump team was, he told the reporter that it was “ten people at most,” disputing the total of 40. When grilled more on who was in the front rows, the secretary noted that “ten people didn’t yell that loud.”

Later in the presser, he would add that those in the front row were definitely all CIA employees.

Trump Declares His Inauguration Date as ‘Day of Patriotic Devotion’

Donald Trump on Friday issued a proclamation declaring January 20, 2017, the day of his inauguration, a “National Day of Patriotic Devotion.” The decree was uploaded to the Federal Register on Monday and spotted by journalist Ken Klippenstein. The document is scheduled for official publication on Tuesday. “I, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 20, 2017, as National Day of Patriotic Devotion, in order to strengthen our bonds to each other and to our country—and to renew the duties of Government to the people,” the decree reads.

The document further asserts that “there is no freedom where the people do not believe in it; no law where the people do not follow it; and no peace where the people do not pray for it. There are no greater people than the American citizenry, and as long as we believe in ourselves, and our country, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.”

Without evidence, Trump tells lawmakers 3-5 million illegal ballots cost him the popular vote

Days after being sworn in, President Trump insisted to congressional leaders invited to a reception at the White House that he would have won the popular vote had it not been for millions of illegal votes, according to people familiar with the meeting.

Trump has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that widespread voter fraud caused him to lose the popular vote to Hillary Clinton, even while he clinched the presidency with an electoral college victory.

Two people familiar with the meeting said Trump spent about 10 minutes at the top of the gathering with Republican and Democratic lawmakers rehashing the campaign. Trump also told them that between 3 million and 5 million illegal votes caused him to lose the popular vote.

Madhouse... :erm:

Do AIDs clinics perform abortions? All they have to do is tell people that they should rather use contraceptives as opposed to abortion.

This part is funny though:
Activists say the rule threatens to block access to safe abortions for countless thousands of women in the developing world. Campaigners had said ahead of Mr Trump’s inauguration, they feared he would reintroduce the policy as a gift to Vice President Mike Pence, known for his staunch opposition to abortion rights.
No one is blocking a woman's right to kill her child. The people who elected Trump simply don't want to pay for it.

I understand the logic but wouldn't it be better to pay for an abortion instead of welfare? Surely it's alot cheaper. Also what about rape victims and such?
