China will take the gap, where the US retracts. Interesting times ahead.

LOL. Just LOL.

China's economy is dependant on US imports. If those go, their economy is finished. They already have an unaffordable housing bubble that is just waiting for a troll like Trump to burst.

bit of alternative perspective...

A defining historical feature of the decline of specific empires in the world capitalist system has been the conflict surrounding the emergence of a successor. The United States and Germany engaged in a protracted struggle in the first half of the twentieth century to determine which country would replace Great Britain as the dominant hegemon. After Germany’s second defeat in a world war in 1945, the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. contended for global hegemony even though the U.S. was the pre-eminent power in economic and military terms throughout the four decades of the Cold War. Since the demise of the Soviet Union, the U.S. has attempted to use its unrivaled military power as a weapon to retain an eroding hegemony.

While U.S. hegemony, according to Samir Amin, “rests far more on its excessive military power than on the advantages of its economic system,”

They have a hegemony because they have a culture that a lot of people in the world want to live in. You don't see people smuggling themselves in meat vans to try and get into China. People see the quality of life in the US and want to be a part of it.

People want Coca-cola, iPhones and Starbucks more than they want the rubbish that their own countries provide.

Most of the mainstream media (CNN, NBC, NYT, WaPO) has a huge left-wing slant and Trump is calling them out for it. Want proof?

Quoting from a Trump supporter's opinion to support your "argument" that the media is biased - most excellent. I especially enjoy this little titbit:

Tim Montgomerie said:
Tillerson’s Trump-like relationship with the truth probably won’t do him much harm

If you don't have a problem with Trump and his tower of lies, you are part of the problem that allowed him to become President.

I would also suggest you - and Montgomerie - refresh your memories on the concept of correlation versus causation. 96% of journalists donating to Clinton says nothing about their political leanings; an equally plausible explanation is that journalists, whose occupation is working with facts, are more likely to donate to a candidate that doesn't ignore or distort facts at every turn.

The truth as to why certain groups of people no longer trust the "mainstream media" is simple: they don't like the facts that media reports, because said facts make them uncomfortable. And so they turn to "alternative" media, and politicians, that tell them what they want to hear: that their bigotry against homosexuals and women and Muslims is okay; that their blue-collar jobs will be guaranteed, even when automation is already making those jobs obsolete; that voting for the Big Strong Leader is going to make all their problems just go away, without them having to do anything as inconvenient as change their views or lifestyles.

These are the people that voted for Trump. These are the people who voted for the ANC and EFF. These are the people whom the film Idiocracy was made about. And of course, instead of stopping to question if anything I've said above has any grain of truth, they will discredit my viewpoints out of hand and attack me.

Because that's easier than thinking or changing.

How to twist facts and come to the conclusion you decided beforehand.

President Obama, proclaimed the day of his own inauguration in 2009 a “National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation,” calling “upon all of our citizens to serve one another and the common purpose of remaking this Nation for our new century.” He annually declared September 11 to be “Patriot Day.”

When Trump does something it must be sinister.

Which part are you referring to? My counter-explanation, or the fact that Trump and his campaign have consistently and systematically lied about important issues during his campaign, and continue to lie now that they're in the White House?

The conjunction of "journalists" and "facts". These days the connection is rather tenuous.

Hmmmm.... let's see “National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation” vs "National Day of Patriotic Devotion"
Yep, same thing, definitely the same thing.
Sucks if you're an atheist though, apparently no peace without praying for it...

Where does atheism and prayer come into it? Did you look up devotion ignore the love and loyalty bits and go straight to the prayer and worship bits?

Nope, second paragraph - no peace where the people do not pray for it:
Not to mention the year of our lord

He doesn't say who you have to pray to and which Lord he was referring to...
