Also, the idea that this pseudo-feud between CNN and Trump is real is amusing. They both profit off it. They get ratings, Trumpets froth at the mouth and worship Trump even more.

My point (I agree that it was not well written) was given Trump's pandering to his support base and the constant fued between himself and the media, it only serves to promote and invigorate his agenda.

His support base see this as validation and vindication of Trump. This is why I say he will in all liklehood be re-elected in the next election. It is why I brought it up here, as this fued between Trump and CNN is exactly what his supporters want him to do.

Look, I commend your attempt to make this a philosophical, level-headed debate but you're behind the eight ball from the get-go.
Sure, if this was a one-off, but it wasn't. This dude has a demonstrable trail of antisemitic, Islamophobic and racist posts...

Look, I can't defend him, and nobody could, but the first amendment gives him the right to freedom of speech. Now if CNN threatened Reddit with a court order to clamp down on hate speech, I would be all for that, but by threatening to divulge his personal information is bang out of order. If CNN wants to keep the moral high ground, they are going to have to cut this crap and focus on real issues. Be critical of Trump without stooping to his level. The fact that they have stooped lower than him each time shows that they are only being critical to grind an axe, not to actually use it to chop some much needed wood for the fire.

I will respond to your second point first. The government is not trying to restrict his speech, but that isn't all the first amendment does. It also guarantees freedom of expression and bigotry is nothing short of pure unadulterated expression. Now when a private organisation basically threatens a private citizen, who has made steps to remain anonymous , with releasing their identity, it becomes a legal matter. This person has broken no law, and has been critical of said organisation. This is basically blackmail.

Now I will capitulate to your first point, although it can be used by any other forumite who you have labeled as such. That label isn't used to stimulate conversation so much as quash it.
