I'll bet you even money the people I see using rear facing car seats have no idea how to do this or that it's even a thing.

Yep, it's the same people who put marie biscuit spare wheel on the front, instead of replacing a rear wheel with it and then putting that rear wheel on the front.

Or drive with their rear fog lights on because they do not know better.

Or place the warning triangle a few meters away from their vehicle, when it should be at minimum 40 meters away.

I've seen a few of these new style 3 pin sockets, but have still not seen a single one of these plugs. Do they really exist out in the real world?
Yes they do, available just about everywhere OIF you look for them.

Does 10 cellphone chargers on a plug draw more electricity than 1 kettle ?
Maybe, maybe not. It is not just about the total energy draw but the safety of too many devices plugged into the same socket using dubious quality adaptors barely able to hold themselves together let alone protect anyone from exposed terminals and overheating.
Personally, I can't see what the issues is about re-wireable and non-rewireable plugs used in sockets, except that the one will possibly have a switch and the other not.

So the actual issue is the quality of the adapters. Article is stupid.

Well not maybe. A cellphone charger uses about 6watts. So 10 will use about 60watts, Average kettle 1800watts?

How will a sign prevent it? At best the sign will educate someone.

But you have to admit it was a wonderful idea to come up with a new tender plan to "design" the new sign!

Yes it does. Not because of power consumption but because of the SHT design of the 2 point plug and the lose connection that follows. Stick to the bloody 3 point plug and keep babies fingers out of it.

Yeah but they are expensive as heck.
I recently built a house and so every outlet has a normal plug and one of those new things too. Ended up having to buy a few of the plugs to get everything to fit.

On one hand its nice having a 2 prong socket everywhere and on the other its a pain having less 3 prong outlets available.

According to regulation 214 of the Road Traffic Act.

"a) The sign shall be placed not less than 45 metres from the motor vehicle along the roadway of the public road concerned in the direction from which traffic will approach such vehicle when travelling on the side of the roadway closest to such motor vehicle."

But at least you know not to put it very close to the vehicle....... ;)

Or make it illegal to sell substandard adapters. Then enforce it diligently.

They worry about this kak while people are stealing electricity and our only electricity provider is bankrupt.

During the night Eksdom should just go and increase the voltage from the transformers to 1000v and we can televise how the sparks fly.

You can't steal eleectricity if you don't have any devices/appliances to consume it
