Stage 8 power cuts possible to protect grid — Minister

Public enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan has dismissed calls to declare a state of disaster for Eskom, saying that the power utility has plans in place to protect South Africa’s grid from total collapse.

“There should therefore be a distinction made between a state of disaster just for dramatic effect as compared to a power system emergency,” Gordhan said during a parliamentary session to respond to questions.

Is he being serious? Load shedding is in their mind the new norm.

" to implement up to Stage 8 load-shedding in order to protect the grid from total collapse.”

Picture this, we are on the Titanic, everyone is sitting down for dinner, while the ship has already been struck,
but the captain says " Don't panic people, this is not a state of emergency, we've got 8 more compartments that need to flood before we need to enact an evacuation...

Except, we can't quite make it out old chap, you sound like you're speaking...

under water.

Years ago i worked with a zimbo who said we would end up the same as his country...
Back then I still thought we had a chance...
sad but true,

Eskom is Counting on the Fact we consider Load shedding "normal" and get people used to this concept so they can continue with their mismanagement and antics.
I mean Zimbos dont complain now about electricity/Water only working for 1 hour a day,

“Far more important than putting [excess Eskom staff] out on the streets — when we have the high level of unemployment that we do — is to attempt to retrain them,” Gordhan said.
What you really should be focusing on is growing the economy by providing a stable electricity supply and not looting tax money and bailing out failed SOE's. If the economy grows, then so will the available jobs.
