Eskom, its very very special. If you can see, the numbers all go to 11.

Look, right across the board.

Stage 11, Stage 11, Stage 11...

Does that mean its any better?

Well, its one higher. Its not 10.

Most other countries, their Electricity outages only go up to 10.

You're on 10, where can you go from there?

Where?

Nowhere. What we do is, we need that extra push over the cliff. You know what we do?
We put it up to 11. One higher.

Why don't you just make level 10 the highest?

Ours go to 11.

If you think about it (with loadshedding), its black.
How much blacker could it be? The answer is none. None more black.

Stage 8 fat reserves.
Gordhan or Eskom?

Gordhan has plenty fat reserves and probably has only the vaguest idea of what black outs mean for the average South African, champagne commie that he is.

Eskom has fat reserves but strictly reserved for ANC connected tenderpreneur; the diesel and coal "suppliers" etc.

Gordhan is a sneaky lil fat hobbit. All he cares about is his bank account, just like the rest of the AMC potheads.

Think of all those 7ah batteries suffering a slow and painful death around the country, spare a thought for their aching cells..

“At all times the imperative [of the system emergency] is to avoid the total collapse of the grid … there are internal plans to manage the power system which will allow the systems operator to implement up to stage 8 load-shedding in order to protect the grid from total collapse … at this stage there is absolutely no requirement for Eskom or government to declare such an emergency [state of disaster],” Gordhan said.

Citing Eskom calculations, BusinessLive said that each day of stage 4 load-shedding costs the economy about R1bn, while one day of stage 2 load-shedding results in economic losses of about R470m.
Article

This is the direct impact on the economy, but surely its also preventing future investment?
With almost 50% of South Africans on grants and 40% unemployment .............. one would think this is a bigger state of disaster than the COVID SOD fiasco?

I dont know?

Maybe not enough food in the trough on this one?

Remove the bank account and see how many politicians would be left, caring about the masses on an empty stomach is hard.

Bit of a dramatic article heading. there is nothing wrong with what Gordhan said this time.

He said in essence, Eskom has the mandate to go up to Stage 8 if ever needed, only then and if only then will it be fair for him to call for a state of disaster, not before that, which is totally fine.
Remember that most comments based on heading, few having actually read the article.

What did i say in another thread previously?

They'll sell us on load-shedding being a solution until we're saying "yay! only Stage 2 we're doing better"....

If it's true for any cancer why can't it be true for the cANCer?

When do you experts think Eksdom will switch on Stage 8?

1-2 Weeks from now.
1-2 Months from now.
Before Midnight end of the Year.
Only Next Year.
Not anytime soon

/too lazy to create a poll

Thank you for affording me this opportunity to provide my input on this matter.

I believe option 3 is applicable here.

Will that be new years eve or new years.

Dear RedViking

I would need to confer with both Ted Blom and Chris Yelland. I will revert back to you soonest.

/S

All jokes aside, even industry experts can only speculate. I think we should have some prize for the winners of this poll. Perhaps noddy badges or something.
