Eskom price double-blow

If Eskom gets its way, many South African households consuming low to moderate amounts of electricity every month will see their bills increase by over 50% from next year.

That could become a reality if the utility's recent tariff-related applications to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) get the green light.

People have been told to get off grid for well over a decade if you haven't then that's on you, enjoy the pain. If you outside city limits and off grid you are smiling all the way to the bank, if you inside city limits then the court case, if there are enough of you is going to be glorious. Slapping the taste out of the ANC and DA mouths is always fun based on their corruption alone.

Customers kiss money goodbye after double blow.

No need to stress, you can consider other options like rent-to-own.
Agreed. Rent to own will become even more of a viable option, and these companies will have more lending underwriters to back them than before if the prices reach the tipping point.

Unfortunately, not many can afford to dish out >R100K on a solar system.
I have a colleague who financed a 100k option, he is about 80% off grid, and his monthly payment + reduce eskom payment is cheaper than just paying eksom. in other words it's literally cheaper to get solar. . . for him.

Just one year's increases. That's nothing compared to what they're planning. Because you know.... Suddenly Eskom's expenses increased 66% and then some. After having increased above inflation for over a decade. You know... Demand decreases, but expenses increasing... Just normal logical ****

Freaking company holding the country hostage. Much like Enron in California back in the day. I hope one day an administration comes along that gives them a P-klap

I wonder if the same thing will eventually happen to water, anyone harvesting rain or drilling a bore-hole will be hit with a 50% increased connection charge..
