Hello South Africa!

We here at DOVADO have recently introduced our latest innovation, the USB Mobile Broadband Router (UMR) in retail channels throughout South Africa.

The UMR allows you to insert a 3G/HSPA or iBurst USB modem and share the internet connection via Ethernet and/or WLAN.

You can read more about it here: http://www.dovado.com/za

Should you have any questions, you can ask us here.

For support issues, email us at [email protected]

Many thanks,

Team DOVADO

Looks good, do you know if it will support Neotel devices?

Even though they are bringing out their own Ethernet device soon, there are quite a few people stuck with Neotel USB modems as well.

Good Question.

Ekhaatvensters how is the neotel coverage at your location? The coverage map eg tells me I'm ~10KM out of range (need to double check) , but we supposedly have a 1-bar lite coverage from people that tested it here. :D

This modem could indeed help out those that are stuck with the USB modems...

I'm also out of "Prime" coverage last time I checked, but within the lite/landline kind of coverage. But I'm in the southern suburbs of Cape Town where they've only just started rolling out. I'm not really interested in CDMA at the moment, just too bad you need the Telkom landline to keep your ADSL.

The http://www.dovado.com/za site actually looks useful. Even youtube videos of how to set everything up specifically for SA.

Hello all,

More instructional and demo videos are available on http://www.dovado.com/videos (we're constantly adding in new ones).

You will also find a list of supported modems on http://www.dovado.com/modems (we're constantly adding in new ones here too!).

As for Neotel, we do know they're operating CDMA2000xEV-DO, but does anyone know which model of modem they've deployed? We might support it already.

Thanks,

Team DOVADO

new features

Hi again,

We have some new cool features in the 2.0 firmware posted here: http://www.dovado.com/umrfirmware

They include..... SMS Mailbox, USB->WAN and WAN->USB automatic failover, Connection Tracker (a sort of connection watchdog), WPA2 Enterprise (to be used with a RADIUS server), and support for more new modems, including iBurst!

All the best

Hi Dovado

Model of modem used by Neotel for Neoconnect lite is Huawei ETS2258 Fixed Wireless Terminal

Hi,

Are these regular portrable USB modems or Fixed Cellular Terminals (FCT) such as the one stated above? We do not support any FCT modems.

Thanks

Hallo DOVADO

From what I can find is the device is similar to a FCT but more like a Fixed Cellular phone

If you are interested I can give you the details of the people that developed the device in South Africa.

They said they are willing to collaborate with a company like you to get the device supported by a usb enabled router like the umr

I can grantee you if your router support the neotel prime device you will get a lot of sales :) wink wink nudge nudge

Is there anyone in The Randburg are that have one of these routers so that I can test the router with the neotel device?

Howdy, can anyone tell me whether or not Dovado has now released the latest firmware which is suppose to support the Neotel Prime device?

Hallo

I connected the manufacturer of the neotel prime device with DOVADO and they where going to see what they can do.

I am waiting for feed back.

Hello,

We've added the Neotel device in a beta firmware, and it has been confirmed to work, but some things like the signal meter isn't enabled yet, so we are waiting for the device to reach us up in Sweden, so that we can get that part working as well.

Thanks
