I just finished the d/l of vista RC 1, 1459mb in 58 minutes without a d/l manager...

nifty speed, but this cost me R82.50 in bandwidth!

24 Hour ADSL IP Reset

I was under the impression the ISO files was closer to 3Gb or more?

I also started downloading without a Download Manager with my 384kb connection last week and then stopped it at 900Mb as I worked out that the ADSL IP reset would interrupt the download, so I cut my losses.
I tried several times to get that Akamai Download Manager to work, but to no avail.
What about the CD Key? What is the procedure on how to obtain one.
The Vista Site is not clear on how to obtain these CD Keys and it seems that they will release more details soon.
As far as I am concerned it is a rather complicated procedure to preview MS Beta Software.
The website looks nice, but they could be more specific with more details of the size of the file, must we get the CD Key via email and AKamai Download FAQ issues etc.

It isn't funny downloading from "Internet Backward Countries" like South Africa where bandwidth costs are extreme and unreliable. 3Gb of Bandwidth can cost up to R300 at some ISP prices. I dont want to P2P just yet.

Perhaps I should get that Ubuntu CD out and play with that rather?

Vista RC1 loaded drivers for all my hardware. Even my VIA SATA ports. Windows XP SP2 couldn't do that.

Oh, *****, SATA Raid configurations on Windows XP. It will be excellent if they fix that for Vista. Having to install a stiffy drive every time I format is terrible, and getting the drivers etc...

Ill change to Vista for that :)

So anyway, how big is Vista RC1 to download? I also thought it was around 3GB, thats why I was thinking of maby downloading it at the end of the month on Iburst, it wouldnt take too long, a few days, but it would cost me nothing.

I am using sound drivers from XP for Vista atm, which works okay, just the 3rd party manager thing that doesnt seem to work great, um, LAN, graphics etc was downloaded/installed by Vista. nVidia has Vista drivers.

Currently only thing not working at all is my VIA controller so 2 of my drives arent working. my 3rd HD and my 3rd CD-Drive, both on the virtual port.
