Ahh - Rodent is using sentech-mtnns peer - why does it take so many hops for the sentech connection even to reach the peer, though? 9 hops through their network seems like a lot??

no no, the magic fairies and their flippen dust is causing the bandwidth to be "drowned" out and father x-mas is enjoying the benefit of boosted peering services!

Sentech, 99% downtime guarunteed!

dunno, but I already shot two birdies with my 9mm, don't trust anyone!

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

Well P2p is back for me...10KB/s on Gnutella....no, hold that thought...dying off to an incredibly fast 7KB/s. Still faster than last week though.

Browsing seems a bit faster, I went out the room and made a cup of coffee and when I returned, the forums page had loaded. So definitely I can say that, using the coffee test, things look better.

MW128, Tower 60(Northpark Plaza), Signal:16%,S-N-L: 7, BER: 45%

Edit: I spoke too soon. Speeds are k@k again.

It seems browsing intl sites is about as fun as watching paint dry atm.
Local is FAST.

Sentech, as stupid as they are, were probably routing all traffic via their intl lines.

Peering will increase speed to local sites and take the load off the main bandwidth pipe.

If that's the case, then we should actually blame IS for the screw up and not Sentech. Since IS set up the system in the first place.

Anyways...myadsl is slow cause it sits overseas.

On a side note. Seems like us 256ers are now hardcapped at 128K looking at my SRT graph....

See, when I say p2p is going well I seriously mean I'm getting like 3K a sec, I can have 16 downloads running at the moment and I won't cross 1.5K/s , however.. I won't be able to surf the net , talk on MSN/IRC ... it just KILLS everything else. BitTorrent is the same, my bittorrent download speeds max at about 0.8Kb/s , I can download a file with a ****ing zillion seeds , it won't make a difference ... anyways

I've ordered the C4 plastique, getting a good price on it. Like I said, Sentech towers will fall one by one if my speeds aren't fixed :p

WOO HA HA HA

WOO HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Oh yeah , and has anyone tried gaming over this connection? LOL WHAT A JOKE! I tried playing UT2003 , it takes about 45 seconds after I've picked up a weapon for it to pop into my hand, it's like 3 frames per 15 seconds , on dial-up it is soooooooooooooooo much faster

Peace
:p

MrBob, or is it DrEvil?

How many files are you sharing? - I'm wondering if there might be an overload of file requests streaming in killing TCP/IP?

why are traceroutes suddenly going through 9 hops where previously it was 2 or 3. This cannot be better..

Bwhahaha

This is funny.... I never thought that Sentech would route ALL their bandwidth via their international links, hence why it was as dog slow, still experiencing *** speeds atm on international, and apparently they've upgraded the microwaves to 100 meg (from 49meg) links...

lets see what rabbits they pull out their hat

Well. One thing's for sure. 256K is now hardcapped at 16KB/s

Check speed on: http://geek.sh/speed.php - This box sits on 100mbit at IS.
I get 16KB/s

nonroker - what is this SRT you talk about and where can I get it. I would like to report my speeds as well since we are on the same tower. Longing for the days of 25KB/s dl's. [:)]

Well, just finished downloading the latest NVidia driver and it was flying - haven't seen speeds averaging between 18KBPS and 32KBPS for some time now. This whilst surfing as well. Sigh, guess I jinxed it by talking about it, considering it is Mintek of all towers.

Download Size: 204800 bytes
Time Delta: 13.776334047318 seconds
Download Speed: 15 KBytes/s

Local looks a bit faster

International still sucks Marcel's balls though - still 1 KB/s.

My German Shephard is currently in training
Have made a CD case pouch around his neck that holds 4DVD's...... he is fully fit to do 20 km a day everyday (yeh he is a speed merchant)

Just have one problem which i think i will overcome (prior to the SH!TWIRELESS being fixed) and thats to get him to read a ROAD MAP.....

His other bad habit is ..... well being a MALE as we all know..... YIP he gets distracted....

BUT hell i have more confidence in him than SENTECH on getting with the plot and hey he costs R300 rand a month in food and can deliver just under 20 gigs a day......

Gonna get him to chat to his mates on his routes and see if he cant set up the latest and greatest WOOF NETWORK..... the next best thing!!!!!

Oh yeh he does follow standard operating procedure..... he P!SSES only on TELKOM BOXES... just to let their technies know that the COMPETITION is around

YEHAAAAAA

aborg, SRT = Standard Rodent Test
It's basically a download from http://tucows.is.co.za/

I set up a cron job that runs the test every 10 mins to see when speeds are fixed (local atleast)

The download I use is http://tucows.is.co.za/files2/osl2000.zip

It's nice a small so it doesn't take a year to download every run.
