Hello!
I am on the 1 Gig Data Package that came with the IBM laptop since Desember 2005.
I am now able to upgrade, but that's where the trouble starts...
According to MTN it is not possible for me to upgrade and get a phone. I can only upgrade and then get another modem and then also pay the new lower rates.
What the girl at the MTN shop tried for was that I migrate to a ProCall 120 and then add a 1 Gig Bundle...
Funny enough... MTN says that you cannot get a phone on a Data Contract and you can't migrate either from a data package to a Call package...
This is going over my head now... Why can't it be done...
I currently pay R999 per month of which R499.00 (old data price) is for the 1 Gig package and the other R498.00 is for the laptop...
So lets throw the laptop out... It still leaves me paying R499.00 per month for the data contract.
If I want to upgrade to the ProCall 120 which is R309.00 + the 1 Gig Data bundle of R289.00 - MTN will get R598.00 out of me vs. the R499... A few buck more for them...
Not a chance... It can't be done? Why not?
I wanted to get a Nokia E90 now, but they say I must pay the full Retail price...
They then said I can do the upgrade and then pay the new lower data rates and get another free usb modem... I already have 2 modems... No luck there either...
They then further suggested that I pay the contract up, cancel it and apply for a new one with the Nokia E90...
If there is really no other way (which I seriously doubt) I will have no choice but to cancel the contract at the end of the year.
I'm not fighting and I am not threatening anyone. It's just not worth my while to be stuck for another 2 years and all that just for a usb modem that I don't want or need...
I am willing to pay the R2199.00 in to get the Nokia E90 on a Procall120 + a 1 Gig bundle... Is there really really NO WAY that this can be arranged???
But then also... why can't I get a phone on a Data Package... It costs even more than a Call package???
Please Please Please let me know...
