In Knysna on Saturday afternoon I discovered a similar drawing pin as below in my one tyre. The pin was removed and the tyre began to deflate. (Google Images)

Knowing I had to travel back to Cape Town the following day and there were no tyre places open I used something similar as below, bought at Pick n Pay. (Google Images).

I just took my car to Autoquip Tygervalley to have the tyre inspected. Their outcome after fifteen minutes was the puncture was small enough that the above was a permanent solution.

The tyre pressure has not dropped and there is no sign of a leak. What would you all suggest I do?

If there was a leak the option would have been a patch, according to Autoquip.

I would imagine it's small enough that they can't actually find it.

So no reason to worry then.

I found a few screws and the odd nail in my tyres now and then. Patch and go on.

Actually OP said it did cause a leak.

It unfortunately did cause a leak. :(

After the pin was taken out the pressure dropped from 2.3 to 1.5 in two hours.

With the ?"temporary? can solution the pressure has been appearing steady since Saturday.

Spray soapy water in the area of the tyre that you found the pin. No bubbles = no problem.

Reviews online suggest that you could be good with the product you bought for 3 months easy. Since it's such a small puncture I would not be worried personally. Just keep it in the boot so you've got it should the need arise

I've on multiple occasions used those products to fix small punctures like yours and went on to drive the car until the tire was finished no problem. works wonders for slow punctures again for the life of the tire. i keep a mini compressor in the boot just in case..

I would not worry, anything that small wont have any impact on the tires safety as long as the leak is stopped and those sealants should have no problem with that.

Maybe just check the pressure frequently which you you are technically supposed to do anyways.

You couldn't patch such a small hole in any case. I think you fine, but check your tyre pressure regularly.

That tyre spray is great for a quick fix but it is not permanent, I had a similar situation and after a month the leak was back, and ****ed up tyre with tears driving it with too little pressure.

Have it patched at a tyre place, it is cheap enough to do for some peace of mind. Price varies from place to place R30-R90

Patch it should it deflate again.

Assuming you have a spare - don't pump it up with the tyre fix, but rather put the spare on, and drive to your nearest tyre dealer, and have them inspect the leaking tyre, and patch it.
