BTW I'm a very relaxed driver. You claimed that you will get single figures even when driving like a poepal (sick). Let me point it out to you, that's it's impossible to get those figures when you drive mildly enthusiastically.

Unlike you, I actually bought a Subaru and didn't only drive one for work. Why would I slate it and what's my agenda? I believe it's a great car, but fuel efficiency is not one of it's selling points. You often talk through your hind quarter.

Brenden_E unlike you, I actually owned THREE before I sold them.

Your agenda, is and always has been to contradict anything that I say.

I therefore treat your posts with a large amount of scepticism. If you go back through posts in which we have both commented, you will find that you disagree with me 99% of the time, whether or not it is justified.

Something wrong with your "real figures", as the real figures I posted from Fuelly shows very clearly... Your colleagues that got 14l/100km were doing something wrong. Just over 12l/100km was the highest I achieved, even for short trips in bumper to bumper traffic. If I drove like a gentleman, 10.5l/100km. On the long road, within the speed limit, 9l/100km was very possible. I'm not saying the latest Forester does not have slightly better consumption than the Patriot, but to say that a Forester does 7l/100km better than a Patriot... well that is preposterous.

QT - as I said, that obviously means that our Jeep sales people drive like idiots. If I wanted to make sure of a sale, when I knew that consumption figures were critical, I simply did back to back tests in Jeep and Subaru and made them look at the consumption figures in each car. Subaru won every time.

Anyway, this is all ancient history, I'm just tired of Subaru constantly being slated for high fuel consumption, when, in fact it is marginally better than its comparable petrol competitors.

So you continue to say that you'll get single figure consumption figures while driving the car hard? Seriously, you are smoking your socks. The only reason I disagree with you is because your claim is nonsense. And not a slight twist on the truth, it's total BS.

Brenden, this is why we always end up arguing - you NEVER read what I say - please find the post where I said that I drive my cars hard!

In this post, we have discussed consumption figures and what I get when I drive a Subaru - I also said that the other sales people obviously drove badly, as I get better figures than them - we also had a link to Subaru fuel economy figures.

If I was racing a car, I would obviously get worse figures - but to get in excess of 20 litres/100 as you glibly state that you can get, you have to be driving a modded turbo on the track.

AT NO TIME DID I SAY THAT I GET SINGLE FIGURES WHILST DRIVING HARD

Is that clear enough for you?

DON'T accuse me of speaking BS - that is NOT the way I operate, unlike other people.

Short term memory loss?

Page 4 of this thread I quote:
"A modern Forester will give you single figures / 100 km even if you drive like a poepal."

So there. You speak BS.

i drive my Forester (2010) in town everyday (Heavy foot) and my ave is 9.2l/100km (according to the trip computer). Just saying. It is actually lighter on fuel than my Subaru Legacy 2.0R SW.

I was talking about the poepals that I have seen drive the car - our demo 2.5 XS has always averaged under 10, that is with multiple idiots driving it every day - YOU are the one who is implying that I drive like an idiot.

Read that sentence - I did not say that I drove it like that!!

Please read again "even if you drive like a poepal"

Perhaps you could get together with Brenden who I see lives close to you, and teach him how to drive a car!

The average for the 2010 Subaru Forester on fuelly is 10.18L/100km. Incidentally, our 2011 model currently sits on 10.08 and that is driving it frugally.

So somehow while heavy footing it you are getting 1L/100km less than the rest of the world driving normally. Truly magical. You must be a magician.

Perhaps it's time you went for driving lessons, as I mentioned before. :)

You've gone senile. This response doesn't acknowledged what you said, and then fabricates that I somehow said you drive badly. What the what? Crazy old fool.

Nice one Brenden - cannot win the argument, so resort to calling me a senile old fool - very mature of you.

I just checked the claimed manufacturer fuel consumption is 9.3L/100km. So this guy is doing less than what the manufacturer claims even with a heavy foot. Now that's some skillz.

So tcofran I would suggest to get your trip computer checked out. It's faulty.

-_-

Will all the individuals who get better fuel consumption than the manufacturer's claim please stand up.

If it was majority highway it's possible. Official urban consumption figure sits at 12.3L/100km for this model. So there's no way you got 9 while driving mostly in the city.
