Hehe... Can't believe I'm saying this, but Brenden_E is the only one talking sense. Fazda, go back to sitting on the beach, sipping Mojitos, as any retired car salesman should do.
Before I slip off to the beach, I would just like to know why Brenden is talking sense and I am not.
You and I were talking Subaru v/s Jeep and your Fuelly figures agree with the fact that Subaru is lighter than a Jeep. My figures were based on demo vehicles that are all driven as if they are stolen, so my figures would be higher than those on Fuelly, however, in my OWN Subaru's ( 3 x Outbacks in which I did in excess of 200 000 in the one, 167 000 in the other, and 52 000 in the last one) I constantly got figures between 8 and 9 litres/100 - my best in the last one was 6.9 l/100 from Jhb to Dbn in absolutely ideal conditions, but it is possible.
Unfortunately Brenden appears to have rather a large log on his shoulder when it comes to anything that I say - enough of one to actually trash his own car and his own consumption figures if it helps in an argument against me - go figure....
I DO manage to get better than average figures in all of my cars, and that is entirely down to driving style. I come from a generation where pride was taken in being able to drive a car with mechanical sympathy, and as a result, the car usually repays one with decent consumption figures.
I do not see the point in driving a car as if you stole it - after all the only person who will feel it, is yourself at the fuel pump.
If you are a masochist who likes to feel pain at the fuel pump, then go for it - just doesn't suit me, that's all.
