Really? Is my long term test okay for you? Mine was called Mel Gibson, because he was The Patriot.

This was during my first year of ownership... Second year was probably around 11.5 average, because my foot grew heavier. Best was in the 8's and worst was probably around 13's.

So, what now? Is that giving you some satisfaction. Do you feel like you're winning?

Congratulations

Where was the VW and the Jeep? Clearly this was setup to make the Forester look good.

That VW looks great - heaven knows what they were thinking when they based the Renegade on the Fiat 500 L

Nope, still here - observing from a distance :)

I can't say much usefulness has been contributed for the last few days :D. Just Jeeps and Subarus :D though I guess you know a bit more about those two :p

The consumption in both of those cars aren't bad... For a car of its size with those engines and AWD, I'd be pretty happy :)

It wasn't the platform that worried me, it was the result...

Yes, you should be worried about the result. Trailhawk has a better 4x4 system, lighter, same clearance and thus probably more capable than your beloved Forester. This from a car in the class below. Shame.

What's it's ground clearance? Doesn't look very high on the picture.
Edit: just googled it, 20cm ground clearance. That's rubbish! Forester has 220.

The non 4x4 version has even less.

It's 8.7 inches on the Trailhawk.
Ah I see the trailhawk is even higher.

According to carmag it's you'll be looking at around R350K for the trailhawk model.

Do you see it competing with the Forester? It's the same price. Forester is much bigger, looks better, much more reliable, etc. And say what you will, Subaru has one of the best AWD systems in the business.

To compete I would have expected it to be much cheaper.

So I test drove a used Audi Q3 s-tronic Quattro 2.0 TDI. Think I'm in love :) might make an offer on Monday but the finances are looking good!

You won't regret it. I recently bought the Audi Q5 2 TDi Quattro.

Fuel consumption is fantastic. Averaged 7.7L/100km down to Cape Town and back to Pretoria. Average for work commute 8.6L/100km. Your consumption figures should be even better.

My next one will be the 3 TDi S-Tronic.

Love the Q3.

Should I replace my A4, odds are it will either be the Q3 or A3 sedan. Just have to be a quattro.

I first have to buy a house (but it's quite immanent).

Thereafter the next vehicle I would buy would be an old ****ed-up bakkie to do the job of all those smart SUVs, which is to haul my ass (within 10 minutes) from my house to the beach ... after work.
