Minimum distances to travel daily required, and it has to be in specific areas, decals needs to be fitted. You pay the monthly premium in full, and they reimburse based on your distance done ( sometimes not at all,or late )

No catch. They have a certain number of cars (specific models) negotiated from specific dealers to assign each month. You have to do a certain amount of KM per month. I think they may even take your area of work and residence in consideration to determine how much advertising coverage they can get. Their hook is offering you regular finance should you not qualify for a R500pm car. Not a bad way to advertise.

'The regulation in the National Road Traffic Act states quite clearly that you may not use more than one-eighth of the surface area on the back windscreen of a car or on any other glass on the side of the vehicle'

I had a car like that. you go through the normal credit checks. there is no balloon or residual or deposit needed. it is financed over 7 years. can not take it any shorter. you have to have the print all over your car advertising it. on the 1st of every month you pay your full installment. and then they calculate on the distance traveled as to how much you get reinbursed. if you travel 2000KM or more a month you get paid back in full... eventually got rid of mine cos was becoming a pain. if you forget to submit details by 3rd of every month you do not get your money back

I helped my mother get one of those cars. There is no residual or deposit, however you might pay slightly more depending on the interest rate of the loan which they help you secure and on the amount of kilometers that you drive per month (500km is the minimum benefit (75%), 2000km is the maximum benefit). The only catch is that you have to take pictures of all the different angles of the car every month between the 1st and the 7th and you have to upload it to their website. Failure to do so results in them not paying a cent of the advertisement fee that month and you suddenly having to pay an additional R2k or however much.

Its not the 3rd, its the seventh. Also not all of the cars have advertisement all over. My mothers car only has advertisement on the back.

For 2000km you get 100% of the benefit, for 500km you get 75% of the benefit.

EDIT: It is financed over 72 months - 6 years.

Knew it had to be a scam of some sort.... Poor suckers that fell for it

Its not a scam, if you follow the steps clearly set out in the contract they pay out regularly every month. It might cost you R100 or R150 more than what it says on the back (depending on the interest rate), but for most people this gives them an opportunity to own a new or relatively new car which they would not otherwise be able to.

There are quite a lot of stories on the web, and I think there was a show on Cart Blanche about this as well - many people never got their reimbursements even though they followed all the steps to the teeth. so be careful, you get what you pay for.
